Re: Your free agent wishlist...

I like brian dawkins at safety.

WAY too old and has definitely lost a step. No thanks. I'd rather see us draft Rodney's replacement.

how old is tank? i think he would be rodney's replacement for now...split w/ sanders and there u go...

Re: Your free agent wishlist...

SIGN WILFORK AND MANKINS

Suggs should get a huge contract. However, how many teams will leave the 3-4? I would say he can play in 4-3. However, what team feels that way.

Also:

Vilma is a 4-3 LB. That's why he was traded.
Larry Johnson should do boy scouts with TO
Same for Mcgahee

Re: Your Free Agent Wish List...

Angelo Crowell is near the top of my wish list. I'm not smart enough to say he'll definitely succesfully convert into a 3-4 OLB, but he's one of the best relatively unknown players in the league. If BB believes he can make the switch they should be all over him

I'll be pleasantly surprised if Asomugha is an option. I expect some team to ignore Dunta Robinson's injury concerns, and price him out of reach. Jabari Greer is a really interesting up and coming name.

I love Shaun McDonald.

Two Bills and a Lion. Maybe I shouldn't have a say.

I love this idea. Mostly so that I can finally get a Patriots jersey with my last name on the back.

My free agent wish list

UFA'a
Wright
Hochstein
Paxton
Evans
Lew Sanders
Colvin
Jordan
Gaffney

RFA's
Woods
Britt

There is only one FA that I really want for this team: I would add him at the top of your list. Matt Cassel.

He is more valuable than any other signing, and may help assure a Superbowl visitation more than any other FA, next season.

The only other possibility is Terrance Suggs, and he will not be available, at all. I would consider a trade for Cassel though. Matt Cassel for DeMarcus Ware, and a pick in 2010 in the first three rounds. :D

I agree on CB Asomugha or, as an option or Dunta Robinson. SS Sean Jones, OLB Suggs and TE Gonzales (with 2 more years on his contract) complete my primary shopping trip through FA.

If we lose some guys, here are the ones I would shoot at. If we lose DL Wright, Canty would be an upgrade. Now my controversial pick up if Gaffney leaves, Ocho Cinco! Alright......admit he would be fun. I think BB likes him. He would have to be a trade.

A name nobody has mentioned yet that I really like for the Patriots is CB Ron Bartell from the St Louis Rams. He had a really good year this year and is an emerging player who is in just his second year as a starter. A 6'1 200lb corner with starting experience.

I also really like Kleinsasser as a blocking TE, but he's getting a little older now and I don't think he's as versatile as he used to be (used to be pretty fast and also capable of lining up at fullback).

I hope Romeo gives the Patriots some good info on the Browns free agents such as S Sean Jones LB Andra Davis and CB Daven Holly.

I know someone in this thread mentioned Mike Brown, but he got injured AGAIN this year. He's simply too injury to count on.

Out of the Patriots free agents, I have a feeling that someone may give Mike Wright starter type money, which the Patriots can't match. Paxson, Evans, and Hochstein top my FA's that I'd like to see back with the Patriots.

I would like to see Devery Henderson, he is a deep threat, might also be able to use him on kick returns and punt returns. Darren sproles, who is also good on kick and punt returns, maybe on screen plays.

We have such a player on our roster, Maroney.

Rb:
Should sign: Darren sproles, lamont jordan, jj arrington, Lorenzo neal
Will sign: Leonard weaver/heath evans, sproles

Wr:
Should sign-michael clayton, Brandon jones, shaun mcdonald
Will sign-one of the top or engram or Gaffney; roscoe parrish

Lb:
Should sign-james farrior, mike Peterson, bart scott,
Will sign-bart scott (another ex-raven lber with my bday…uh oh)

Cb:
Should sign-nnamdi, Bryant mcfadden, dunta robinson,
Will sign-one of mcfadden or robinson

Safety:
Should sign-rodney, sean jones
Will sign-rodney, james sanders

Nnamdi will be too expensive, dunta could be a solid number 2 or 3 at a decent price. Sean Jones is a must, pairing him with Meriweather would be amazing! Bart Scott seems like a good fit. Plus he's another ex-Raven linebacker with my bday (just like an overrated guy we already have). I've always liked Brandon Jones.

ILB--Andra Davis or Mike Peterson
OLB--Dansby or Suggs
CB--Robinson
S--Jones (Personally I'd love to see Lawyer Milloy brought back but I don't see it)
P--Lechler or Hentrich
WR--Toomer

Re-sign Paxton, Hocstien, Woods, Wright, J. Sanders
Extend Wilfork, Mankins
Restructure Seymour

I predict that the Patriots will sign nobody, but their own. What are you going to do with 13 or 14 draft picks, in a great draft? They will restock every hole, and every reserve position with starter-quality draftee rookies, by the end of the first Day.

The only guy that might appeal is Suggs, but he will never even be available. That OLB position is the only position that BB consciously went shopping for prime beef, and paid for in FA. Every other import was a an opportunity acquisition, like Rodney.

Under 30. 28 I believe. Tank and Jamie wil be fine backups, spot starters, behind Brandon and his fellow first rounder. Mays /Moore/Rolle ?

I like most of this list. Don't see Suggs as possible, but obviously that would be incredible. I say YES to Dansby, Dunta Robinson and Sean Jones, but I wouldn't mind bringing in Brian Dawkins.

As for the Pats stuff, I'd do all of the above except I'd spell Hochstein right. ;)

FYI, Dawkins is currently 35 years old.

I agree.. I think Bill loves the ability to do diff. things w/ multiple safeties almost in a hybrid form.. I would love a Mays or a Moore combined w/ another FA pickup like D Landry from Baltimore.

Can you imagine that big nickel package of Brandon/ Mays or Moore / and Landry ..

(Here comes my rant) .. I have been thinking that this may be Bill's last stand and I think he will def. get value out of the Cassell situation and any other personell moves that would include added draft valuation.

I don't see us making a big splash at all in FA .. I see a guy like Landry or a CB type but thats it.. I see taking care of all our Pending guys that are coming up in 2010 and trimming the fat on players we have now..

If you look at the possibilities in the draft

There own 1st (24th) , 2 2nds(one from the chargers) 2 3rds, 2 4ths, 5th, 2 6ths, 7th.

This does not include Samuel's Comp Pick rumored to be end of round 3 and Cassell which I am estimating a mid 1st round and 3rd.. and I am leaning toward the 49ers but any of the teams in the mid first have needs for a QB..

So this gives us some extreme fire power going into the draft that is supposed to be especially deep this year w/ underclassmen declaring..

I can see BB loading up on Def. Studs in the first 2 rounds as many as 5 pics and creating a young fast nucleus in the secondary and LB corps that will be exciting to watch anchored behind a Dline that will be locked up for the next 3-4 years..

1st pick. 1st rnd
Taylor Mays, USC, Jr. or
William Moore, Missouri

2nd pick 1st rnd
Brandon Spikes, Florida, Jr.
James Laurinaitis, Ohio St

3rd round picks
(CB) take your pick
Alphonso Smith, CB, Wake Forest
Darius Butler, UConn
Trevard Lindley, Kentucky, Jr.
Mike Mickens, Cincinnati
Joe Burnett, Central Florida
Victor Harris, Virginia Tech

(OLB)
Clint Sintim, Virginia
Sean Weatherspoon, Missouri, Jr.
Tyrone McKenzie, South Florida

Sorry for the rant guys.. but I am actually really excited about this offseason!

I would love suggs. He could be the Willie replacement we so desparately need. However, signing him to a deal I'm afraid would really hurt our flexibility in extending Wilfork and/or Seymour.

New tight end please!
Im sick of watson! With the talent
around him he should be on
pro bowl every year.I would say he
is a big bust!!!
I know this is not the biggest problem
going into the off season for pats
but Im just getting tired of his
non production.

Good point. Watson should be WIDE OPEN on every passing play. Very dissapointing. However, I don't see any FA TE better than him.

Getting back to who the Pats should sign:

First, get a pass rush. If they somehow get a first rounder for Cassel, I see them offering it to Baltimore for Terrell Suggs or Oakland for Nnamdi Asomugha (if they can't get a pass rusher). Next, I'd like to see the Pats get help at the SS spot so they can move Brandon Merriweather to a more ball hawking role at FS which he has showed playing SS. Two players I like at SS are Jermaine Phillips and Sean Jones. Sean Jones seems more likely because he played with Crennel and Jones knows what to expect from BB. How about Atari Bigby? Sure, he isn't the best in coverage but the guy can lay the smack down. Third, I can see the Pats taking a chance with Dunta Robinson if the money is right. Also, someone else mentioned that Ron Bartell could be a under the radar signing because he is having a good year in St. Louis. Jabari Greer or Bryant Mcfadden would be a nice addition as well. Jordan Gross would be nice but that is a pipe dream because he will get top dollar. Matt Birk would be nice if he is a available because Koppen really struggled this year. A lot of people think Bart Scott is a douche bag just because he went on a rant after the Ravens lost to the Pats. I think he would be a great addition at ILB. What about Channing Crowder? Do you think him and Matt Light will get along?

Sean Jones is my pick as well. I wouldn't mind Bart Scott, but is he a system guy there in bmore. Jones and Meriweather would be solid together. I believe you let Harrison walk because he is getting long in the tooth. Need to add the speed to this position and Jones does that.
