You should wait on posting speculation like this until you hear it from an actual news source, not effin' ESPN. They're the National Enquirer of sports.

Detroit, Oakland, Cleveland - teams for which no person in their right mind should ever accept a coaching position; under current leadership, that is.

Did I leave any out?

It's according to Chris Mortenson. Sorry, I don't trust him either.

You think this thread should be deleted?

Re: Detroit asks to speak to Josh McDaniel

Even if they didn't ask yet, I am sure they will. Detroit makes sense because they could get McDaniels and (most likely) Cassel.

If I was Josh, however, I would turn them all down. Why bother screwing with a perrenial loser like Detroit or Oakland for your first head coaching job when you can wait a few more years and maybe hit a perfect opportunity with a well run franchise whos coach retires or something (I don't know, maybe a Carolina or Chicago)? It's not like his stock is going to go down anytime soon, expecially if we keep producing QB's like we have so far.

Someone posted on the CMB that Detroit was given permission to speak to Jason Garrett as well.

Re: Detroit asks to speak to Josh McDaniel

What's wrong with Mortensen? He's very well connected. He got the Eli injury thing at the beginning of last season wrong but he's very good.

No, because eventually someone will (ask to) talk to Josh McDaniel... and considering all the recent coaching changes it should come as no real surprise. Albeit, two of those firings were former Belichick disciples (was Judas a disciple, sorry not very religious).

Re: Detroit asks to speak to Josh McDaniel

I hear that McDaniels has heard Morts report and he is hoping Mort got it wrong.

Re: Detroit asks to speak to Josh McDaniel

Until Detroit makes significant changes in their front office, no

coach should touch them with a ten foot pole.

Or maybe he was lying? Even if it was on one of those very few occasions?

Really-you can't expect everyone to speak the truth every second of their lives.

Maybe. But it's not like this is something out of the realm of possibility.

Considering there is no leadership (aka- GM) in either Detroit or Cleveland, you are correct. No one should accept a job there. One of the problems in Detroit was lack of owner interest. The Cleveland owner is pretty good. He'll give you as much rope as you ask for to hang yourself with.

Sure the Cardinals and Jets.

Not to mention it's a horrible place to live, Detroit sucks in every way possible.

Re: Detroit asks to speak to Josh McDaniel

McDaniels would be crazy to go to Detroit.

Any truth to the rumor that the Black Coaches Association has specifically asked the league to waive the Rooney Rule for the Detroit job? :)

Mangini wouldn't. He's probably hoping he gets the call because that might be the only place willing to give him a 2nd chance because he might be the only one to accept an offer.

Re: Detroit asks to speak to Josh McDaniel

Is it me or am I missing something here.

Detroit asking to talk to Josh, Cleveland asking to Scott.

Assuming it is true it really ain't a big deal. They are asking to talk. Before this becomes an issue. Josh and Scott has to agree to talk. And then like what was said.

At the bar yesterday, I asked a girl if I could buy her a drink. The way some of you react you would think that means we are getting married.

If I call up the switch board and ask to talk to Cassel about dropping out of football and joining my local basketball league, is there going to be a thread and full fledge panic over that too.
