Re: Danny Villa sought on rape charges

He was just the "Coach of the Week" on Patriots All Access. Too Bad...

Re: Danny Villa sought on rape charges

Interesting that he's identified on the national sites as "ex-Patriot Danny Villa" despite the fact that he spent 6 of his 12 years with, I believe, 3 other teams. Maybe I'm paranoid about the national media and their perspective on the Pats. Actually, there's no "maybe" about it...but, then again, just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get you...

Re: Danny Villa sought on rape charges

Statuatory rape, not violent rape.

He's accused of getting it on with a teenager, which is not something that gets taken lightly when you're a high school faculty member.

Half his career w/the Pats, coaching in the metro area where he played for the Pats? Seems like a fairly legit way to ID him, unfortunately.

Re: Danny Villa sought on rape charges

we will see more headlines like "Former patriots o lineman caught..." in the national press to excite a direction reaction to the team in general.

Where does it say that? Didn't know teenagers were into...

...now in days. Still absolutely repulsive if true.

Why not "Former NFL lineman caught ....."

IMO, the news media will use any headline to further taint the Patriots name.
He played for KC and NC also but these scumbags jump on the Patriots like
vultures on dead meat.

Re: Danny Villa sought on rape charges

Are you fing kidding me?!! I went to Walpole HS. This is disgusting. WTF? The HS culture revolves around football a little too much there. Football trumps all other sports and after school activities. Apparently so much that they let this go on until after the SB from what I have read. I hope this is not true but I fear the worst.

Re: Danny Villa sought on rape charges

He also played for the Cardinals. MORE ex-NFL lineman..BUT???? Get ANY connection with the Pats and the media is there with a LARGE brush to do that..makes me HATE the media a lot more with such manure...Yes, it's pretty bad and sleazy..but you knwo what? The media slimes make me REALLY sick...and if someone painted them with the same broad brush they do with everyone else, they squeal and squack like little piglets.
I think this may have been something ongoing..like wait until AFTER the big game and the Superbowl...That he turned himself in so quickly says bit more than the media vultures than not. If they actually USED what brains they had, they would have undesrtood that it was Christmas...that he has family in Arizona and that was why he was there not here..but instead, the slime wants to make THAT even part of the story.
He may be guilty and and it MIGHT be something a bit more that statuary rape, but the media is not far behind him with slime and the way it was reported and things were conveyed that were stretched to make a story.

yeah, there's that whole concept of "presumed innocent" that the media hates so much. Sort of like the way they treated the Pats prior to last year's superbowl.

If Villa did this, then he should pay the price, but unless he's convicted, he should be given the benefit of doubt.

I have no comment on this story at all, but here's a year-by-year breakdown of who Villa played for from NFL.com:
Danny Villa

Re: Danny Villa sought on rape charges

Whether you agree or not, it the exact same act as Villa committed and should be treated in the EXACT same manner.

Precisely my point

lol I just saw this on Foxnews and they said he was charged with raping a child. When they say child, you'd expect someone under 12 or so which is absolutely horribly disgusting.

Re: Danny Villa sought on rape charges

Who gives a crap about Villa ... it's his problem.

danny villa locked up for rape

ESPN - Ex-New England Patriots offensive lineman Danny Villa held on $100,000 cash bond

WRENTHAM, Mass. -- A former NFL offensive lineman and high school football coach has been ordered held on $100,000 cash bail after he was charged with raping a 15-year-old female student during a three-month period.

Danny Villa, who also was the athletic director at Walpole High School, outside the Boston area, pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Wrentham District Court to three counts of rape of a child and three counts of enticing a minor under age 16.

Judge William Powers told Villa to stay away from the girl and her family, Walpole schools and any children under 16 except his own.

Villa's attorney said she planned to appeal the bail decision.

Prosecutors said Villa was the girl's basketball coach before she entered high school. He was charged after her parents found hundreds of text messages she allegedly received from the Villa.

Villa was an offensive lineman with the New England Patriots and Arizona Cardinals.

Villa surrendered to authorities in Arizona on Saturday, then posted bail and traveled alone to Massachusetts early Tuesday. He was arrested when he arrived in Boston.

Villa resigned from Walpole High School last week after school administrators said they received a credible allegation of criminal misconduct.
