New GM, same old terribly run organization. This team is arse backwards. They don't pay when there's no cap, and they're in the top 5 in revenue, but overpay now, for mediocre talent, when there is a salary cap, and being wise with money matters. This team is mentally ******ed. If this article is correct, they're paying $4 million per season for a guy that Montreal scratched in the playoffs. Ryder is a nice talent, but he had 14 goals last year. The money seems to rich for a guy coming off a bad year.

The Boston Bruins have agreed to terms with winger Michael Ryder on a three-year deal at $4 million per season.

The contract is still being finalized but the two parties have agreed to terms pending the final paperwork being in order.

''He has a terrific shot, very strong on the puck and plays a gritty game,'' Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli said on a conference call. ''He's someone we've targeted for a while.''

$4 million for gritt.

They definitely overpaid in that deal, too bad they didn't bite the bullet and nab Hossa.

Hossa isn't coming to Boston unfortunately. I like Hossa alot as a player, but he's not worth the $8-9 million he's going to get out there. Maybe if the Bruins didn't whiz money away, and waste $4 million deals on mediocre players like Manny Fernandez, Glenn Murray, Michael Ryder, Sergei Zhamnov, etc. they could sign him. With a cap, teams need to be smarter. Ryder is a nice addition, but is too expensive at $4 million per.

Sure they overpaid...probably by 1 mil/year. Ryder's a good player though. He butted heads with Carboneau, whom I liked as a player but seems like a ******** as a coach. The Bs needed a 25+ goal winger, and they got one.

I think this is a good move. 4 mill/yr isn't so bad when it's only a 3 year deal.

This is addressing the B's biggest need. They couldn't put the puck in the back of the net last year to save their lives and Ryder can net them 30+, especially if he is paired with Savard.

I like his game. He can shoot the puck, is very good on the PP, and he isn't afraid to finish body checks. The only thing I think he isn't goin to bring to the team is defense.

He has done well under Julien on three diff. levels in the past and should do so in Boston.

Didn't they make that same mistake under O'Connell? I think the guy's name was Martin LaPointe.

I agree with you. I thought the signing of Ryder was dumb.

Ryder was misused in Montreal by Carbonneau. This is a good signing for the B's. The big question is 'IF' Ryder can regain his old form this may be a steal. The silly offer out there is what my Canucks have offered Sundin - 20 million over 2 years.

And he freakin' passed it up. A Sedin/Sundin/Sedin power play would be lethal.

You are kidding right?

I quoted myself here, to point out what crow is. Forget the black things flying around in the woods making wierd noises, or attacking people in 1960's movies. Whole those are crows, the above is crow. Oh, and mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, as a die hard Bruins fan, it tastes damn good!

Personally, I'd wouldn't mind eating this Crow too.

Ryder's not a bad player, has a strong presence on the ice and is strong on the puck. Not sure if he's a 30+ player like some have said and I'm not sure if he's worth $4 mil but he's someone I'd want on my team. Good PP player.

Someone mentioned Sundin... I wouldn't offer Sundin $1 mil to play on my team. Any player that decides to "take a break" and postpone his decision to December is not worthy of being on my team. A season starts in September ****face. He's like Hossa, greedy for a Cup and waited for December to see who's a contender so he can join a winning team. He should be blacklisted and not allowed into the league. Wish I could take over Betman's job for a day.

As for Hossa, I had a good laugh this week when I read an article carrying the headline: Hossa playing for cup, not money! Yeah, that's why he's making over $7 mil per year. Like the extra million would have really made a difference. No player is worth that kind of money. It's because of those salaries that most families can't afford to go see a live NHL game. Hossa should have signed the big deal. With the recession coming, his net-worth in Detroit might be reduced significantly.

Ryder's goal last night was absolutely sick.

i refuse to get sucked in by the bruins. im hopefull but until they win a first round playoff series i remain very skeptical.

Ryder nets the go ahead goal with 6 minutes left in the 3rd vs Carolina.

Savard made another great pass to setup a goal.

This is the year they break through and win a round or two. This team seems a lot tougher mentally compared to the days of Jumbo Joe and Sergei.

Not to mention Blake "******" Wheeler. The kid is solid.

For sure. Definitely a top choice for the Calder this season.

The first goal was very good and the second was pretty much an open net off a rebound. I like what the kid brings to the team.

He has a great sense of where to be around the net and has good size which makes it that much better, and to think that this guy was all but discarded by Phoenix when they didn't sign him to a contract.
