I agree with Felger 100% concerning Favre. I don't think i've agreed with just about anything Felger has said before.

Re: Felger:pats card and Favre pursues another F in big game

Favre fans will always give his culmulative career stats to explain why he is consistently called one of the top 5 all-time QBs. Which is bull**** because the guy has played more games than any other QB by like a mile.

His per game stats are, abyssmal.

He's an exciting QB, he'll energize his fans and a lot of the locker room, but what he won't give you is reliability. He is equally prone to throw the game-winning TD by threading a ridiculous needle after evading a sack as he is prone to throwing the game-ending INT by making a bone-headed decision.

Nothing about that kind of unpredictability screams Top 5 all-time to me. Not when you've got players who posted better per-game stats and/or were overall more reliable when the game was on the line. Marino, Montana, Elway, Manning, Brady, Young. Heck you could even argue that guys like Moon, Fouts and Kelly give Favre a run for his money in terms of who is in the 'top X Qbs of all-time.'

Re: Felger:pats card and Favre pursues another F in big game

I think most of the aura surrounding farve was propagated by Jon Madden who has head so far up favre's azz hes wearing it for a hat. After 2000 favre has stunk. The bigger the game the worse he has played. He didn't earn his SB ring, who ever had the run back for GB won it for him. I don't think GB would have beat the Pats if it weren't for that.

the guy who took those two kicks to the house in the Super Bowl was Desmond "heisman pose" f'in Howard

Re: Felger:pats card and Favre pursues another F in big game

While I agree with all this I just want Favre to have one more big game this weekend vs the Fins.

I am the worlds biggest Favre fan this weekend.

I think I have to go throw up now...

Favre is SO twentieth century!

I hate to agree with pretty boy Felgie but I love The Goose as a sideline commentator. Entertaining as hell.

Good article today by Felger. The further he gets from his "I hate the pats" schtick, the better he gets. And I agree with him, Favre is wildly over rated at this point, and hasn't come up big in the clutch in years.

He's got that Fran Drescher role nailed.

Personally, I can't stand Tony Siragusa; he's the only sideline reporter I actively ignore. Just another difference I have with Felger.

A name burned in to my soul. Just like that in the grasp play in 42.

It seems that everyone online hates Favre while nearly every professional analyst likes the guy. His stats don't lie. I don't care how long he played. The fact that he put up these numbers and won games consistently for so long is a great feat on its own.

Favre is a winner. He won a Super Bowl. He has had one sub .500 season in what, 17 or 18 years at the helm? That is incredible. Not everyone plays incredibly all the time. His records don't lie either, no matter how badly people want to twist them to look like any QB could achieve them.

I'm only referring to his comments about Favre, nothing more.

But Goose is certainly more knowledgeable and more adept at a fine quip, than the average sideline Bimbette, even it not the equivalent eye-candy.

Sorry, I know that calling it like it is is not approved on a forum. You have to cheer and back the home team no matter what, right or wrong, and always bash the enemies, and never point out their positives. Favre is horrible and never should have been a starter in the league. He throws too many INTs. He is a gunslinger. He didn't "deserve" a Superbowl, or a league record 3 MVPs for that matter. The league conspired to give him those MVPs. Go Pats?

There is a happy medium here.. the guy is terribly overratted, and has been average at best in the last 8 years or so.. There are a handful of people in the media (Madden, Berman, etc.) who blow sunshine up this guy's azz, even though the whole world knows he's had some HORRIBLE games in big situations.. As a Pats fan (I assume you are, if you're in this forum), do you really feel comfortable relying on him in a big game? Against a team the Pats just scored 48 on? Be honest.. And how the hell did he make the Pro Bowl?? That makes me want to puke.. 21 TDs and 19 picks? Woop de doo... I have ZERO faith in this guy this week.. We need Thomas Jones to run for 150 and 3 scores, and the Jets D to show up (I can't believe I typed that last sentence)..

Favre is quite overrated but he better bring his A game for the Dolphins! Squish the phish! What I really liked about the win against the Cards is we got a glimpse of what a HEAlTHY Morris/Jordan combo can do, and it was pretty much everything you'd hope for from the running game!

Winning one Super Bowl in 18 years is actually less than the statistical norm in a 32 team league, so trotting out the "he won a Super Bowl" line should actually work (very slightly) against him and not for him. Football is a team game and while Favre certainly contributed to those winning teams, so did all the others around him, especially those on the OL and DL.
