Against the Bills and Jets, according to Paul Perillo on PFW in Progress. He said the 8 AFL teams will play each other during those weeks. 2009 is the 50th anniversary of the Patriots and the AFL.

Home one week and away the other?

Is there going to be a 50th anniversary regular season uniform?

All throwback uniforms must be certified for authenticity by italian pat patriot .:cool3: I'm guessing a big year on Patriots merchandise with the 50th anniversary patch on it.

Yeah, that was my first thought -- Italian Pat will be thrilled.

I was going to say, attenzione Italian Pat, good news for you!

Holy crap, 50 years of following the Pats! Next year will be the 50th season of actual games, even though the league was founded in 1959.

Wow man, respect!

What was that like, becoming a Pats fan?

I hate throw backs.

The only throwbacks they should ever wear is 2001, 2003 and 2004!

Well, simply put, if they played in Boston (later Foxborough, of course), I was going to be a fan. Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins...The AFL was like somewhere between a major and minor league until (somewhat holds nose) the Namath Jets beat the Colts in SB III. I actually sort of liked Namath. He was definitely the first big star an AFL team signed, flamboyant SOB also. The early Patriots were fun. They didn't win any titles way back then, but they were our Patriots, and they played on Sunday!

nice, been waiting for a while to see those throwbacks!

go pat patriot!

Cant imagine your happiness at our first SB win.

I've only been a fan for a little under 3 years now, so I still don't have "my own" SB win to take pride in. But knock on wood, it'll happen soon.

And that's the thing: They are OUR Patriots! OUR Team. Those bums are where half my grey hair comes from, but I still love them. I started watching the Pats when Plunkett was drafted 73/74. Folks who haven't lived through the years prior to 1996 simply don't realize what a wonderful time this New Century is for Patriots Nation.

Man, I can't WAIT to get a throwback anniversary jersey. I've still got a Pat Patriot stocking cap and jacket, and a parka and ball cap from the 95/96 years with the lighter blue. Be nice to see the boys in red for a couple of games.

Respects,

I know. Me, too!?!?!

That must mean I'm in my 60's? How's that happen?

Were you a Giants fan before the Patriots?

I followed both teams for a couple of years, but switched to Pats only by '65. (Though had the Pats moved to St Louis I probably would have gone back to the Giants.)

I still have a Boston Patriots bumper sticker my father wouldn't let me put on our car, and still have a few Mobil gas station giveaway drinking glasses from the 80's. Had a couple dozen, down to 5. Wish I knew where I could get more.

I want to see those wacky tricorn-hat helmets!!!! WAAH!!!!
:cry2:

No, Cleveland Browns. They were actually televised into New England before the Giants, because they, the Browns, were a perennial champion way back then. When the Giants came on the scene, it was too late for them as I was hooked on the Browns. I liked the Browns along with the Pats for a few years mostly because of Jim Brown, the most exciting player to watch ever, to me. Imagine him in Hi Def! When he retired way too early, I was all Pats from then on.

Man, this 50 years of the Patriots really snuck up on me!

Hah, that's funny, the Browns were the first team I followed as a kid too; mostly because Jim Brown was my favorite player. Giants games were always on the TV but they were no longer any good at that point. After Brown retired I became more focused on the Pats of Nance, Parilli, & co., and the AFL.
