Truly this will be the echelon of the Madden curse, no?

Brett was dressed as a Packer when the game first came out and they're done.
Brett has now almost eliminated (not single-handedly, mind you) the Jets playoff hopes.
If they win a big game on Sunday it will be almost definitely the worst thing ever to happen to a franchise. They will win to put the WRONG team in as the division champions.

There are so many scenarios where this has to be fact!

Anyway, just some levity considering the Jets are now the Lions and couldn't beat the Fish if their lives depended on it.

If this happens, though, mad props to the curse and may no Patriot ever EVER grace the cover.

Maddens head is so far up "Bretts" azz Madden wears it for a hat. But yes in the scheme of things this is critical. May the curse of Madden befall his man crush lover. :rocker:

It says alot about Madden's manlove for Favre that he is the only player ever to escape the Madden jinx. Yeah he sucked this season but he sucks now anyway.

Well technically while not an EA Sports/Madden cover....

... and if you want to go further even if he wasn't a Pat yet....

Is Brett the first Madden curse victim to screw over two teams?

Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't the Madden Curse more of an injury thing? and not a team sucking thing. Not to mention while choking big time in the end the Jets have a significantly better season this year than last. So where is the curse?

It's called the Madden curse for a reason... It's only for Madden games, not others.

I know. I was just pointing out Brady being on Sony's cover and Moss (while still a Vike) was on Sega's cover. Just a little fun facts here.

But yeah... no Pats on Madden ever please.

I think it's a general cloud of suck, which of course injury can cause, but it got Vince Young too...

2008 Vince Young, Tennessee Titans

Accomplishments before Madden Cover: Led Texas Longhorns to 2006 BCS Championship, 2006 Offensive Rookie of the Year.

2008 Stats: Began season suspended for undisclosed reasons. Threw only 9 TDs and 17 interceptions.

I don't really buy it, of course, but here's the history of the thing anyway:

But the Jets Sucked more last year so where is the curse?

Seriously? The pick loss escalates as they progress, but if they miss the playoff's, enter a potential salary cap nightmare, lose their QB and have to rebuild the coaching staff, that's an utter triumph of the curse. It will end Brett's career.

If it goes as far as putting the Pats in as the AFCE champs despite every odd against us, dang...

What's that line from the Mummy II? 'This is cursed and that is cursed...'

Here's how it worked:

Madden 2001 (2000 season) Eddie George. Curse didn't really affect him that season, he had a big year offensively. The Titans had the best record in the NFL...and lost their only playoff game to the Ravens. As for George, he never made it back to the Pro Bowl. Hmmm.

Madden 2002 (2001 season) Daunte Culpepper. Missed 5 games, had a TD/INT ratio of 14/13, and the Vikings finished 5-11. The previous year, the Vikings were 11-5 and Culpepper was a Pro Bowler. Unlike George, Culpepper returned to the Pro Bowl a few more times in his career. Alas, now he's part of the soon to be 0-16 Detroit Lions.

Madden 2003 (2002 season) Marshall Faulk. Just the guy you want on the cover after an epic Super Bowl defeat! Made it to the Pro Bowl on name reputation alone, but never ran for 1,000 yards again and the Rams missed the playoffs.

Madden 2004 (2003 season) Michael Vick. Gets on the cover, five days later, injured in a preseason game, misses most of the season, Falcons miss the playoffs after making it the previous year. Vick is now in jail.

Madden 2005 (2004 season) Ray Lewis. Performed admirably while battling injury, but the Ravens miss the playoffs by 1 game.

Madden 06 (2005 season) Donovan McNabb. Went to the Super Bowl the previous year. Then goes on the cover, suffers a sports hernia injury, and goes on injured reserve through midseason. The Eagles miss the playoffs.

Madden 07 (2006 season) Shaun Alexander. Coming off an MVP season, Alexander's performance suffers significant. LaDainian Tomlinson breaks the rushing TD record that Alexander had just set the previous year. Alexander is now out of the league.

Madden 08 (2007 season) Vince Young. Sucks, teams makes the playoffs only by the grace of the Dungy/Fisher gropefest in Week 17, gets beat by the Chargers first round. Now the clipboard holder for Kerry Collins.

And of course, you have Favre, who may take down two franchises at the same time.

Also, I could have saved a lot of time typing if I had found this earlier. But anyway, there you have it.
