If we get in, I'd rather travel than host the Ravens...

In this year, I rather go into the Playoffs as the 6th seed.

Why?

Becuase the 6th Seed with get Miami or Jets in the first game, which is an opponent we know very well and could easily win away at their stadium. Then we would travel to Tenn.

Now I know Tenn is the "best" team in the AFC this year, but I think we match up with them VERY well.

The easiest route to the AFC championship game in my opinion TO Jets, TO Tenn, and then TO Indy/Pitt.

If we go in as a 3rd seed, we have to host a nasty looking Ravens team, then go to Pitt, then to Indy / Tenn depending on how it shakes out.. which is a MUCH tougher path to the Super Bowl.

Now of course this all means nothing if we look past the Bills, but there is a much different strength level between #6 and #3.

I know what you're saying, but my only worry is our D, it's really not playoff calibre. The offense could make up for it, but I dunno.

If we get the div, at least if we go no further we've won the division again and it will show up a little nicer in the history books.

Re: If we get in, I rather travel than Host the Ravens...

I don't mind either matchup, the teams that scare me are the ones that can throw downfield and the Ravens don't win that way. I'd be scared of turnovers but I think we can beat the Ravens. Our secondary is what I want to hide.

Re: If we get in, I rather travel than Host the Ravens...

I'd much rather have a home game.

Re: If we get in, I rather travel than Host the Ravens...

"Beggars cant be chosers " as the saying goes. i will take anything at this pt .

Re: If we get in, I rather travel than Host the Ravens...

Well we'd still be the 3 seed if the Jets win & Ravens lose. So ultimately I'm rooting more so for the Jags. Even though it doesn't look likely, eliminating the Ravens from the postseason would be huge.

you probably make a good point. the 6th seed gives us MIA in the first round, then Tennessee in the divisionals instead of Baltimore and Pitt. whatever, we will win our game at 1pm on sunday and root for the jets and ravens at 4. we will take what we can get, right

Re: If we get in, I rather travel than Host the Ravens...

i dont care about either path....if we get to the playoffs, i think we are the best team int he NFL to get to the "real" season this year

Excellent point. Don't get me wrong, I would love for us to go far in the playoffs, but just getting there is good enough for me. This team has shown unbelievable heart this season.

Re: If we get in, I rather travel than Host the Ravens...

I'd rather have HFA if we have to play the Dolts or the Donks.

I thought about this last night, I do worry about the Ravens a bit, but I think we can take them, it just all comes down to which Pats team would show up, the Raiders/Cardinals version or the Chargers/Dolphins 1 version.

Re: If we get in, I rather travel than Host the Ravens...

Well argued, but we have to take what we can get.

Bingo. I'd much rather play the Colts at home, and Mile High is anathema to the Patriots for whatever reason. As the #3 seed, with Indianapolis as a wild card team, there's a very solid chance that the Patriots would only need to travel for the divisional round; and that away game would likely be at Pittsburgh, where the Patriots have had plenty of success in the playoffs. I could see the road to the Super Bowl, with the Patriots as the AFC East champions, looking like this:

WC: vs. Dolphins
DIV: @ Steelers
AFCCG: vs. Colts

You always want the most HFA you can get, otherwise the Titans, Steelers, Panthers, and ScumsuckingMaggotBurgers would have rested their players yesterday.

I wasn't sure either, but I just looked it up and the Phish can't get the WC cuz they lost to Baltimore for them it's the east or bust.

The Dolphins have been eliminated from Wild Card contention. If they lose to the Jets, the best they can finish is tied with the Ravens, who beat them earlier this year. If they win, they win the East anyway.

I understand HFA...

But, the path we would take at 6 with everything going as expected, vs #3...

#6 Path
At Miami
At Tenn
At Indy/Pitt

#3 Path
Home vs Ravens
At Pitt
At Tenn / Home Indy <--- Home vs Indy is intriguing, but the entire path seems much tougher.

I guess I fee At PITT being the toughest game in the Playoffs... and I rather save that for the AFC Championship game rather than the 2nd round.

I disagree wit the travel and not having HF vs Indy, but to each his own. We have no control over what happens anyway. :D

Re: If we get in, I rather travel than host the Ravens...

Imagine hosting the Chargers for the second year in a row for the AFC Championship game?

Also, the Chargers would have once again beaten the same two teams (Colts, Titans) to get to Foxboro.

Re: If we get in, I rather travel than host the Ravens...

I don't really understand why anyone is worried about who the Patriots would play.... I just want to get in the damn playoffs at this point.

Re: If we get in, I rather travel than host the Ravens...

I will tell you why I would rather travel to MIA then host the Ravens....this is my dream scenario.....

The Monday after the Jets lose to Miami and and Jax defeats the Ravens, a few disgruntled Jets players accuse Mangini of purposefully throwing the game because Eric didn't think it was possible for Jax to win.

These players are pissed as hell that Mangini hatred of BB cost them a playoff spot. This results in the latest NFL scandal resulting in the rat being forced to quit and the loss of the Jets first round draft pick.

As KG once said...

Anything's possible! :D

Kind of like going to a high school mixer. I just want the Pats to have their ticket punched for the dance. Once there, I'm sure they will "strut their stuff", regardless of their dance partner.
