we need brett favre to come up big ....how wacky is that ?If anyone doesnt remember , we won against the fins and a packer win at meadowlands wouldve given us the division. Packers i think were playing for homefiled adv but crapped the bed and we got knocked off. Once again after 7 yrs we have the same situation if we beat the bills....thats somewhat weird.

Re: Just like 2002..

Yes, I remember well how short-lived the jubilation was in Patriot Nation that day.

The one constant that anyone who watches football understands is that you can NEVER EVER EVER count on Brett Favre to come through for you.

Re: Just like 2002..

That was a great game. Big surprise, Faulk made a clutch catch to win it.

I remember that too, I think the Packers lost big that day......

Re: Just like 2002..

I remember when we won our game, due to the clutch way in which we had won, feeling like we would just go right into the playoffs and run the table again.

Oh, that was a lot of fun. Vinatieri's kick had us all going crazy, then a feel hours later...

YUP...I've bees saying this for over a month now.....Brett Favre gets a chance to screw NE over for a third time now.

Once in 1996

Once in 202

And now this.........

If his team lays down again, I will HATE BRETT FAVRE forever.

I remember being at a friend's house watching the Pats game and we were all shouting ourselves hoarse. I had no voice for the rest of the day, but I didn't care at first because we won and it looked like we were going to the playoffs. ... and then the Jets won... and I just couldn't believe...

I still remember that day...epic come from behind win by the Pats, turn over to the Packers/Jets game, and saw the Packers backup QB, Doug Pederson I think, and was crushed...

Green Bay was 12-3 going into the Jets game. The Jets were 8 -7. The Packers already were into the playoffs. They laid down bigtime, losing to the Pennington Jets 42-17.

I remember it well, there was no way a 12-3 team should play that bad going into the playoffs, but Favre did........Now its a repeat, Pennington against Favre for the playoffs......

I think also Brady really had a seperated shoulder for the last 3 games of the season that yr, and might have not played that playoff game if they got in..

I think it's in Patriot Reign, where after the victory over the Dophins, it describes how Patriot staff were watching the Jets/Packers. Romeo, I believe, said about the Packers, "They didn't come to play."

Even though the Patriots didnt make the playoffs, that win over Miami in 2002, I thought, was a catalyst to their dynasty. Up to then, it looked like 2001 was going to be a wonderful, unforgettable memory. But to go out like Champions the way they did that day showed me they were going to come back, that all they needed was a solid draft in 2003 and they would be a powerhouse. It truly made the offseason bearable.

I'll glady miss the playoffs this season if it's a repeat of 2002/2003/2004 trend. We all know what happened in 2003 and 2004 ;)

That said, there is life in the old boy yet. C'mon Pats. C'mon!

I vividly remember eating pizza during that game, Papa John's, loaded with hot peppers. Didn't taste good for very long, but it was appropriate

Don't forget to give Norv Turner a little credit. After they ran for 180 yards, he decides to pass it on three downs while pinned in their own endzone. Norv hasnt gotten much better :D

With that said, I've been concerned for awhile now, that we might have a repeat of 02. Now with the flex schedule change, im even more worried. If the Pats, and Ravens both win early, the Jets could pack it in, which will end up screwing us. Damn I hate the jets, and to think I might have to root for them come sunday. That sucks

The Ravens game was moved to 4:00 as well, so the Jets won't be able to pack it in.

Definitely remember this, our old friend Terry Glenn was a Packer at the time. Also remember this being a funny year, lots of 9-7 and 8-8 teams in the AFC - I think it was 8 or 9 and Oakland was the #1 seed with an 11-5 record. Packers got what was coming to them though because they were eliminated in the wild card round by Vick and the Falcons.

It wasn't Favre in 2002. That is part of the media hype. Favre was okay, basically competent. Desmond Howard won the game for the Packers.

But I love the comparison. Six years ago we needed Favre to come up big in the Meadowlands. Now we're in the same situation. I don't often agree with Felger, but last night he said, "It's my idea of living hell - having to rely on Favre and the Jets in order to make the playoffs."

Troy Brown said something interesting. He said, "Lucky for us the Bills gave the game to the Jets two weeks ago, or the Jets would have nothing to play for this Sunday."
