I've always been a Hobbs supporter. I know he's had his moments of giving up some big plays, but I will always stand by my belief that he is a great number 2, and serviceable number 1 corner in the NFL. As we all know watching games on tv it's very tough to watch how well (or poorly) your defensive backs are playing. Today was my annual one game that I went to, and as I recently traded for Larry Fitzgerald on my fantasy team, and had him playing in my title game, I paid close attention to him during the game. Now, I will say I have no idea who was on him on his td, as two of the ppl I went with had to drive 90 miles back home in the weather, so we left early (first time ever in a regular season game leaving early). But, Hobbs was ALL OVER Fitzy all day long. An absolute outstanding effort put in by Ellis today going up against one of the best receivers in the game.

He gave up every TD by the Cardinals today!

;)

He just needs to stop celebrating when he makes routine plays or when recievers drop balls.

Drives me crazy

I like Hobbs very much but how many plays more than 20 yards has he given up this year? Where does he rank among NFL CBs on this stat? If he does not learn better ball skills with his back to the QB he may not even be a #2. He is behind Willhite already and Willhite was behind Wheatley before he got hurt.

Behind Wilhite?!? By who's declaration?

This. My friends and I do the Ellis-Dance on Sundays when completing routine plays in the house (successfully getting a beer, answering the phone, etc.) It gets funner the more we drink.

A. Beer is always something to celebrate

B. Give someone enough beer and your lucky if the worst that they are doing is the "Ellis-Dance"

Most of the time it's just variations of us pointing to our crotches, with the occasional shimmy.

We're all uncoordinated white guys in grad-school, so have absolutely no dancing skeelz. The beer is a must.

A+? He got smoked for a long touchdown and couldn't catch Fitzgerald down the sideline.

What?!?!? Hobbs is and has been the #1 RCB for quite a while now. Just because someone else is playing LCB doesn't mean that Hobbs is "behind" them.

Hobbs made a nice play on that interception, but i'm still not convinced he's even a "serviceable" #1. To be honest, i dont even like him as a #2. I think he'd be good as a #3 corner ideally and keep him returning kicks.

Until Hobbs makes a game changing play when it matters(On Defense) i'll keep questioning his skill as a CB. Until then, he'll always be Mr. Fall Down to me...

He covers better than Hobbs, particularly the long ball, where Hobbs is consistently toast. Are you watching? Maybe someone with better search skills than I possess can tell us where Hobbs ranks on long passes allowed. I am happy to let objective evidence be the arbiter, even though the RCB has the tougher job.

Hobbs remains unappreciated by the dilletant fans who don't really understand the game. He's a decent NFL starting corner back and a very good KR.

I dont think i'm any less of a fan because i tell the truth. Sometimes the truth hurts. I'm a die hard Pats fans and followed them through the LEAN years so i have no problem taking issues when there are some. Its kind of scary to think that even if Brady never got hurt, the D would still have been dissapointing. The fact is, Hobbs MAY be a decent CB, but he's our #1 CB and #1 CBs should be better than "decent". Hopefully through FA or the Draft we somehow improve our #1 from "decent" to very good or great.

This is subjective assertion and yours is no better than mine. As I have said, let's see some facts to back it up. I propose that Hobbs is awful with his back to the ball and gives up a lions share of big plays. The facts will either confirm or refute this asssertion.

Deltha O'Neal...... benched
Wilhite..... left on inactive squad
Hobbs...... #1 CB all season

Those facts seem to be pretty objective from a fan standpoint.

Historical facts. You are living in the past. Wilhite was a rooking whose trajectory is sharply increasing and who now starts. Hobbs has great attitude, great on run support, good closing on short routes, and lacks the hip swivel to turn and run deep with NFL receivers. But never mind if some players are off limits to criticism.

Count me as someone who has appreciated Hobbs' play over the last couple of seasons. Many people on this board have been hard on him. I think he was a terrific third round pick and has contributed a lot. Hope he has a long future with the team.

Don't mind the kid enjoying himself but the dance after his pick looked really camp. He needs to stop that one for sure..

I like Hobbs, he hussles at 200% all the time and is a solid player in a very tough posistion. He has his flaws but who doesn't? If Hobbs were to leave there would be no shortage of teams wanting to pick him up.

Overall Hobbs has been solid all year. The way it looks now I'd be more than happy with a Hobbs/Wilhite/and healthy-Wheatley rotation next season.
