the whole trade brady thing is ridiculous. we need to keep brady

Surprisinly good article by the times. It has been a masterful coaching year that will likely get overlooked, unless they win it all.

Nice topic, terrible article. It would take too long to even point out all the suck.

Mike and Chris do better work than this in blog entries.

That's a ridiculous response to the article, a single sentence says "He has played well enough for some to suggest that the Patriots should keep Cassel and try for a huge haul of draft picks by trading Brady" as a way of complimenting Cassel.

You are crazy, this wasn't a bad article at all, except it wasn't written from a Pats fan's perspective. If you are complaining about things like the short list of IRed players, that's a minor quibble and doesn't seriously affect the article. It touched briefly on a large number of relevant points, including even a good Cowher quote, to show the big picture without being too long.

I'm not saying it's a fanhood issue, it's a composition issue.

It would make for an odd entry in Belichick’s coaching canon: his finest effort wrapped around a final failure.

An entry in his book would be like a failure burrito? A hot dog of suck? Is it a picture book?

Maroney's the team's best running back?

Merriweather said the injuries took a toll on healthy? No, but we'll say he did and then use a quote that doesn't really illustrate the point.

Anyway, like I said, nice subject, some good ideas, poor article. May I keep my opinion or do you demand I trade it in for yours?

Maybe he was expecting an obituary.

"Friends, we are gathered here today not to mourn, but to remember an obscure season that few people paid much attention to."

Surely you have learned by now that "my" opinion is the only one that matters.

And Maroney is the #1 RB, arguably the best.

The best what again? ;)

Pretty even-keeled piece, largely complimentary, in my opinion.

another case in point -- the Pats sell, they generate eyeballs. even now. i think thats cool, even if the article is average.

Feature RB obviously

The fact that BB kept four other RBs on the roster going into the season suggests that the staff thought he was perhaps not a "feature" but more like a "cameo role in a short film"

I still have to wonder about those early TO's against Indy and the decision mot to go for two against the Jets.

Those were two lost opportunities that could put a premature end to our season.

Regardless, he was the starter and the odds-on favourite to get the most carries this year. And it sounds better than saying ''one of several runningbacks, Laurence Maroney''.

First of all, the team did NOT keep 4 other RBs on the Roster. They kept 3. Morris, Faulk, and Jordan. BJGE was on the practice squad. Also, considering the injury history of Faulk, and the fact that Morris wasn't 100%, its easy to see why the Pats kept 3 + BJGE. There is also the possiblity that they KNEW that Maroney's shoulder may not be 100% and that he may be lost to them for the year if it was re-injured. Dislocated shoulders have a tendency to do that. And, if bad enough, they require surgery to fix. If that was the case, then the Patriots were hedging their bets.

But, agian, Morris wasn't 100% and Faulk's injury history is well known.

i'd say lj, lm,kf, and sammy's injury histories are all well known.
