It looks like its possible Kc will join the list of teams that have tried to pry Scott Piolie from the Patruots. Kc is a pretty prestigeous team, unlike Detroit.

Clark Hunt wouldn’t identify any possible candidates to replace Carl Peterson as Chiefs general manager. Hunt, the Chiefs’ chairman, did reveal a list of qualities he’s looking for in Peterson’s replacement.

“I want somebody who’s a shrewd evaluator of football talent,” Hunt said. “(His) job will be 24/7 to think about the football team. That’s the most important quality. Obviously I’m looking for a strong leader, a good communicator, preferably somebody who has experience in building a winning NFL team.”

Though he was speaking generically, he could have been describing Scott Pioli, New England’s vice president of player personnel. Pioli, 43, could wind up as Hunt’s primary target.....continued.

To be fair, that description fits just about every good GM in football. I'm sure the Chiefs would love to have Pioli, though, as would probably every other front office in the league.

This thread is dumb.

Re: Kansas City the latest to look to Pioli?

We hear this every single year, don't we?

Re: Kansas City the latest to look to Pioli?

Pioli, McDaniels, and Cassel will be mentioned for every open GM, Head Coach, and QB position. It doesn't mean any of them will leave the Pats... well, Cassel will.

Re: Kansas City the latest to look to Pioli?

this isn't as dumb as comparing cassel to steve young............

pioli has pretty much locked up a lifetime gig here..............going ANYWHERE else will have huge risk attached to it

Re: Kansas City the latest to look to Pioli?

rumors fly every year but do they pan out....never

Re: Kansas City the latest to look to Pioli?

dumber than the "what would the record be if the whole team was healthy" thread ??? :D

not even close.... the "healthy thread" is epic dumb, this one is just mildly lame.

Re: Kansas City the latest to look to Pioli?

In the Past Pioli has personally told me that he is not gonig anywhere. Of course that was 5 years ago when the first rumors were flying around.

I had pregame sideline passes to the Ravens game a few years back. The rumors were out there so when Pioli walked past we asked him are you going anywhere? and he responded "I am not going anywhere" and man of his word the extension was announced a few weeks later.

Rumors have been thrown around since and he has turned them all down I doubt this would be different though you have to give a little more credit than the Lions rumor.

Re: Kansas City the latest to look to Pioli?

Three words...
Scott is Staying

Re: Kansas City the latest to look to Pioli?

The last place I thnk he'd go is out west anyway. Jump in line, KC.

Re: Kansas City the latest to look to Pioli?

I think its pretty naive to assume Pioli is staying because, well, hes staying.

If he has a chance to be a GM with the kind of authority that Hunt would give him in KC, why is it ridiculous to thinks its a possibility. Unless you have information that Pioli has no ambition to be any more than he is. Or if you are assuming that than please explain why?

Also, McDaniels WILL be a hot commodity after the offense did what it did without Brady. And Matt Cassel would be a perfect pick up for almost any team, certainly the Chiefs, who will have the draft picks to give in FA or in a franchised situation.

stranger things have happened. see below

hopefully Pioli will stay. but sooner or later, hes going to grow tired of hearing the majority of praise going to BB.

Pioli and the Herminator...

Exactly. People need to THINK as opposed to reacting to the latest mediot rumor.

FYI newbies, 2 yrs ago Pioli turned down an excellent BIG $ offer by Paul Allen for Seattle, certainly not a LOSER franchise like one that picked Herm Edwards.

Let's see...I'm wealthy. I want to live in KC or Seattle. Let me think... :D

This isn't the first time Pioli has been given an opportunity to get a GM job. Several years ago the Seahawks offered to make him the highest paid GM in the league and he declined. He had an opportunity to be the GM of the Giants which was his favorite team growing up and he took his name out of the running before they could even ask. Why would he want the KC job when he could have been the GM of his favorite team growing up or be the highest paid GM at the time in Seattle? The Chiefs are in a tough situation with no QB, overpriced and declining RB and TE, and a lot of holes.

As for McDaniels, he is more likely to leave. I still don't see him leaving unless he gets the right job. He probably could have gotten a job last year, but declined interviews with the Raiders and Redskins. He won't take the Raiders or Lions job.

As rob pointed out he has had some really good opportunities that he passed on already and persumably he is happy where he is and is going to play out this run. I imagine that at some point he will go out on his own but he is young and he is being smart staying in a good position.

Re: Kansas City the latest to look to Pioli?

Pioli is relatively young, and odds are Belichick won't coach more than another, say, 5 years. Pioli may not be jumping at every opportunity because he believes his time will come, right here.

Oh, and note to refluxblue: it's spelled "Pioli" not "Piolie".
