Apologies in advance if this isn't the right section to put it in...

So I was looking at all the playoff teams and teams in the hunt, trying to pick out an NFL and nobody really stood out to me, until I came across the Falcons.

Michael Turner is MVP to me considering what he has done for that team. (I didnt forget Matt Ryan!)

He has taken a lot of pressure off Ryan and averaged 100 rushing yards per game, 15 rushing TD's, and has helped turned a projected 3 win team into a playoff contender.

I love Michael Turner as a player, I did when he was coming out of Northern Illinois. I can safely say that he would be a member of the Patriots right now had I been in charge of the team when he came out of school, because I would have taken him way higher than the 5th round (and I've got the posts here to prove it). He deserves legitimate consideration for the award, along with Ryan, for totally transforming that team.

Re: OT: Who is your NFL MVP?

i would say either turner of chad pennington

Re: OT: Who is your NFL MVP?

Turner is a good shout, but then Roddy White is having a huge year for them, and would they be anywhere without Matt Ryan?

It's an interesting year for MVP, with nobody head and shoulders ahead statistically. I think Chad Pennington has meant more to his team than any other candidate, so he'd be in my thinking. Adrian Peterson? DeAngelo Williams is coming on pretty darn strong, too. Might also be a good year to look defensively. James Harrison? Troy Polamalu?

I'd probably end up plumping for Pennington.

You'all don't know a Matt Cassel?

I actually like the idea of voting for a defensive player. James Harrison or DeMarcus Ware would get my vote in that case. Ryan has been solid, especially for a rookie quarterback, and White has really progressed, but right now, that offense is riding Michael Turner to success. He's clearly the most important player on that team right now.

Re: OT: Who is your NFL MVP?

I think Kurt Warner wins it, but there is no clear cut winner this year, in my mind.

ppl have said that, but he doesnt deserve it, not really, not until the cards play and win some quality matchups...

Re: OT: Who is your NFL MVP?

I am going with 7th round draft pick, out of USC who after spending 3 years on the bench as a backup QB behind a future HOF was called to step in during the first quarter of the first game.

Despite an Oline that often allowed him to be sacked he rarely ever coughed up the ball.

And even thought the defense is pretty weak the team is still in the playoff hunt.

This kid is so dedicated he even won a game throwing 4 TD passes the Sunday between his fathers death and the funeral.

He is one of 5 QBs in the history of the NFL to have back to back 400 yard games.

I give you MATT CASSEL.

Re: OT: Who is your NFL MVP?

Matt Cassel. Well, I'll invent a category: positive surprise of the year for Matt. For MVP, there's a guy that's brought his team back from what looked like a bad season to being a serious contender, that everyone that has a vote knows very well: Peyton Manning.

Seriously folks, it is over. Peyton Manning is the 2008 NFL MVP. His only "competition" laid an egg at home to the Tavaras Jackson-led Vikings. For those keeping score, Kurt Warner has nearly the same stats this year as he did last year. Oh, and he's fumbled the ball 10 times this year, losing 6 of them. Yep, real MVP stuff there.

Meanwhile, Peyton Manning just helped his team win their 7th game in a row. His completition percentage is now back up over 65%, and he's tossed 23 TDs and only 12 INTs with one fumble (not lost).

Again, Warner has 19 turnovers this year. Manning has 12. This is no longer a debate. Chad Pennington is more of an MVP candidate now than Kurt Warner, who STILL can't play well when his team plays a quality opponent.

Over! Done! Kaput! If one more dumb ESPN "blogger" writes that Kurt Warner is his MVP, my virtual foot is going up his virtual behind. Honestly, do these guys even watch the games? What the hell has Warner done other than win the worst division in football with just 8 wins?

Re: OT: Who is your NFL MVP?

I think this goes down to the last week of the season this year. If none of the QB candidates have broken through by then, I think this might be a year to give it to someone on the other side of the ball.

Re: OT: Who is your NFL MVP?

For most of the season I was saying Warner, but lately he's fallen off a bit and the Cards aren't playing as well.

Adrian Peterson should get a good amount of consideration. 1500+ yards with 2 games left to go, and the main reason why the Vikings are closing in on a division title.

Re: OT: Who is your NFL MVP?

wes welker, and there really should be no question. The fact that he isnt going to even make the pro bowl shows what a joke that game is

"only 12 INTs"?

Only 5 guys have thrown more. Tony Romo has thrown 'only' 11 INTs, and has thrown more TDs than Manning, and we know how Dallas would do without him (1-2 without him, 8-3 with).

Other than name recognition I have absolutely no idea how anyone makes a case for Manning.

Re: OT: Who is your NFL MVP?

I have to agree that Peyton Manning is the leader at MVP at this point

With all the injuries they have had and with near certain losses they have almost had,Peyton dug them out from the grave and put them not only in position to grab a near certain #5 wild card spot but also has NOT yet eliminated them from the division title as weird as that sounds - You would have bet a million dollars 5 weeks ago that Indy had NO shot at the division.

Not to mention his knee surgeries and absence from the offseason.

Peyton has a slight edge on all other players at this point IMO.. and thats despite the stats issue,Its wins that count and how they have helped attain them,Not who has the most INTs or thrown the most TDs

Tony Dungy doesn't even think Manning is MVP. He said James Harrison...

Re: OT: Who is your NFL MVP?

If the Colts somehow blow there chances at a wildcard (which will be unlikely seeing the impending back scratching win the Titans will be giving them ala last season...) There is no way the award can go to Manning.

To me, there is no clear MVP at all. It is just going to come down to votes and favoritism this year. If the JEST win out, Favre will get it, because it will make a better headline.

Re: OT: Who is your NFL MVP?

I was fairly shocked when I heard a few media members mentioning Manning as MVP. Then, I see the posts in this thread.................... Do you people actually watch those Colts games? They have been very lucky, and their defense has pulled them out of losses many more times then Manning has won them.

Re: OT: Who is your NFL MVP?

You could probably make a pretty strong case for Tom Brady.
