Wilhite looked REALLY good today

Wilhite's year is very similar to Hobbs rookie year. I think he has a good future ahead of him.

And the person Wilhite replaced (O'Neal) has reminded me of the person Hobbs replaces (Starks). So everything is relative, I guess.

If Wilhite is reminding you of Hobbs, how can he have a good future? Hobbs is terrible and to think he'll get better is ridiculous. He hasn't improved and I don't see why he would. He's just not a good cover corner. However, he is an outstanding kick returner.

Lewis Sanders looked very good at safety as well. It's possible that the defensive backfield may not be as bad as thought.

Then again, it is only the Raiders...

Well, James "Bad Angle" Sanders was not back there so yeah, there was a huge improvement. Lewis' athletic abilities back there was a refreshing site.

I wholeheartedly agree on Wilhite's play today--and I think he may be good enough to be a starting CB. I didn't understand why people were saying he was suited for the slot CB role and why BB had Wheatley playing outside. I never trust the listed heights of these guys but Wilhite definitely looks a little bigger than Wheatley.

Anyway, I think it might be Hobbs and Wilhite as the corners last year with Wheatley the nickle guy covering the slot.

These guys are going to take their lumps this year, but more because they are inexperienced and they've never played together rather than a lack of ability. Once they get used to their roles and each other I think this might be a decent unit.

I'm not sold! He's a terrible tackler, he whiffed big time on a screen pass this week and combined with last weeks let up, he doesn't thrill me. The int was a terrible throw by Russel. I hope I'm wrong.

Before we put Wilhite in Canton let see how he looks against Larry Fitzgerald or Anquan Boldin...Arizona next Sunday.:scared:

Let's call out the guy with 2? career starts and say I'm not sold. The reality is he played tighter than our stop-gap (O'Neal), made his first career INT and had a couple of nice pass defensed. ROOKIE mistakes are going to happen.

How about rating Wilhite and for that fact Wheatley 3 years into their tenure, like most drafts should be properly evaluated.

The stupidity levels on this board sometimes befuddle me.

If you guys remember Wheatley's play against the Colts, it was impressive from what little time he had in. I remember 2 passes thrown his way and he broke up both. He injured his wrist on breaking up a deep ball one on one (amazing play for a noob:D)

I tend to agree with that .. I thought Wheatley was starting to look solid given experience before his suspect arm went. If he can get fit then both he and Wilhite could be rotating with Hobbs in there next season

Given we have 2 second rounders and maybe a 3rd if we can tag and trade Cassel then I think 2 of those have to be a saftey and an OLB and if there's value there then also a tall CB and a TE

your opinions of hobbs are pretty extreme.

i think he's a pretty decent corner and a Good Kick Returner.

i don't think he's terrible or outstanding at anything.

I think (not positive) the announcers said this was Oakland's best air-game all year.

That's bad news for next week.

Very much my concern as well.. Russell looked much better than he is.. Warner and the Cardinals concern me..

After what the Vikings did to them this week I am a lot less worried. Vikings secondary has been as bad if not worse than ours, the difference here is that they have a ridiculous pass rush and best run defense in the league.

Im not worried at all about Arizonas 32nd ranked run offense (I think they rushed a total of 7 times against the Vikes) so we can completely key in on their passing game.

I think we can easily win the game if we get the pass rush going and manage to rattle Warner, their entire teams wins or loses based on how he performs. In my opinion Cardinals are a very transparent team and if we can gameplan well against them this game will be easier than the one against Oakland.

Good idea, now who do we have that can rush the paser? :p

what is up with all the hobbs hating i will not get. He is better than asante on asante 1st ,2nd,3rd year. I remember wanting to cut samuel when he was playing nickel in his 3rd year.

hobbs for the first 3 yr beat samuel and way things are going he will beat him for the career too if he stays in NE which i think he will.

It's getting better. Sanders at Safety looks like a good situation, actually.

And there's this guy...

I would say Wilhite is more like Samuel as he is not a kick returner and played more of a backup role most of the season like Asante did. They were both picked in the 4th round and to top it off they have the same haircut :)
