How the Patriots make the playoffs (Week 15 edition)

Titans lost a pretty important player today, didn't they? Haynesworth?

I wonder how that will affect them going forward.

Pull for Dallas tonight, that team needs to get on track after the Owens fiasco of this past week and they need to stay in the playoff hunt so the adrenaline is still there for next week. If they lose tonight, it makes it really hard for them to sneak in and with all the dysfunction in that camp right now, I can seeing them laying a big egg against a tough Baltimore defense. To me, that's our best bet - the Dolphins/Jets scenario just requires too much to happen for me to feel comfortable, especially after seeing Buffalo hand them a win today.

Wow, when u really think bout i we havent been in situations like this 4 awhile. Division champs 5 straight yrs we havent had 2 worry bout it, until now.

Could happen, then we have to root for them against Miami :D

Ravens could easily lose one of those last two, my gut says we get in if we win out.

If the Jets lose next week vs Seattle, are they out of it?? If so I'm wondering if they would lay down vs Miami just to spite BB and keep NE out of the playoffs.........

No, if the Patriots don't win out then the Jets can win the division by beating Miami even if they lose to Seattle.

Your Week 16 Patriots playoff implication games schedule...

Thursday
Jaguars @ Colts (8:15pm)

Saturday
Ravens @ Cowboys (8:15pm)

Sunday
Cardinals @ Patriots (1pm)
Dolphins @ Chiefs (1pm)

In the AFC Divisional Playoff Game against the Chargers from the 2006 season, I was damn near in tears after the Patriots came back to take the lead and eventually win. It was an overwhelming feeling of overcoming the odds, similar to the Snow Bowl game. This season it feels like the Patriots are catching so many bad breaks, and yet they're still hanging in there. If they make the playoffs, I'll probably be an emotional glob of goo in front of the television set. It shouldn't feel like such a long shot but after the two stomach punch games today with the Jets and Dolphins, it feels like it is.

The Jets and Dolphins hate each other. You don't remember the classic battles during the Testaverde/Fiedler era? I think the Jets would play to win to have a shot at the wildcard, and if nothing else, to take the Dolphins down with them.

as long as the pats get into the playoffs i dont care how. Heck the entire jets team could somehow get lost on there way 2 Seattle and forfeit and i'd be fine

As another poster mentioned, I absolutely love the fact we may in fact control our playoff destiny before our game against the Cardinals.

That would be fantastic and would definitely help !!!!

i dont think the cardinals will even try. they already have a spot locked up

division title looks unlikely, but i think if we can take arizona and buffalo they'll get a wild card spot.

dallas' D looks sick right now, I think that baltimore is going to lose next week.

If...

Patriots win final 2 games (vs Cardinals, @ Bills)

AFC East Division Title with...

1A) One Jets loss (@ Seahawks, vs Dolphins)
AND
1B) One Dolphins loss (@ Chiefs, @ Jets)

OR
2) Dolphins @ Jets game ends in tie

Wild-Card Berth with...

1) One Ravens loss (@ Cowboys, vs Jaguars)

OR
2) Colts lose out (@ Jaguars, vs Titans)

If...

Patriots lose 1 game (vs Cardinals, @ Bills)

AFC East Division Title with...

1A) Jets lose @ Seahawks
AND

1C) Dolphins @ Jets game ends in tie

Wild-Card Berth with...

1) Ravens lose out (@ Cowboys, vs Jaguars)

I think our best chance is to have Balt loose to Dal next weekend. If that is the case then our destiny is in our hands for if we win out we are gauranteed at least a wild card . . .

yes was going to mention that in my last thread and forgot, we could wake up next Sunday morning with our destiny in our own hands . . .

Cowboys are 6-1 at home this season and this will most likely be the final game ever at Texas Stadium.

Again even if Dallas makes the playoffs they do not get a playoff game, all on the road for them... Dallas will beat Balt, no doubt.. If we go into sun controling our own destiny , I like our chances.. Like I said putting our faith in Seattle and Kc is to much to ask... I think the way this season has been a playoff birth is the best we could ask for .. And if we cant win the division, I rather see Miami win it, and then a meeting with the Dolphins on jan 3rd..

So based upon us getting in as in a wild card spot....we would play the fins first? That is if they win?
