Gary Glitter's hit song was just played after Houston intercepted Kerry Collins. I remember hearing it last week from some game as well. Has Gillette started playing this fans' favorite again?

Personally, I've never thought that Elevation plus 1812 Overtune really capture the moment. They should go back to Rock and Roll Part 2 if they can.

I thought the team had asked Godsmack to write a touchdown song? I remember reading that a couple of years ago.

But nothing will beat the fans throwing snow in unison to R&R Part 2. :D

These scenes would not be possible without Rock and Roll Part 2.

Ahh... the good old days.

I thought it was dumb to take it out in the first place. So what if the guy's a scumbag, as if the guys who perform other stadium music are all saints.

Those scenes gave me goosebumps--even watching them from the warmth of my livingroom.

You just coulgn't have a thread like this over here in England. The guys about as taboo/hated as a person can be. If it pays him or in any way makes people want to go buy it I'd be against it. AFter being imprisoned for downloading kiddie porn he then goes to Vietnam or wherever it was and gets impisoned for child abuse. How you'd want a person like thats music to be played is beyond me.

If the music is good.. WTF...I find that too PC...and FRANKLY quite dumb...If that is the standard..A LOT of music would need to be banned..It's one thing to hate the guy who did things like that banning the music he did way before?? Blimey DUMB!

A dfiefference of opinion where one guy calls the other DUMB, nice. I personally think the music of the man shouldn't be played to large audiences which basically promotes it for people to maybe go buy it and line the mans coffers. But hey, thats DUMB

For sure. I still can't believe they got rid of that song-it was such a big part of our games:mad: Those photos are infamous, especially the snow celebration.

Great photo of Bru-he was IN HIS PRIME then:rocker:

Fine, you are entitled to your personal opinion. When did that extend to telling others that their personal opinion should be yours?

which basically promotes it for people to maybe go buy it and line the mans coffers.
BS. Playing music is not promoting people to buy it. You think football stadiums after a TD song, announce over the PA System: "Come buy copies of this song, on sale on the Level 2 Concourse."

Gimme a break. You even been to a game anywhere??

You don't want to buy his music, don't. But don't act like it's a conspiracy to sell CDs. No one is selling the music in football stadiums. They are listening to it.

Re: OT: Rock and Roll Part 2 being played in NFL stadiums again

They need to add that to Madden .. How cool would that be ..

Re: OT: Rock and Roll Part 2 being played in NFL stadiums again

For me, it seems to be the song I associate with NFL celebrations. Most of the football Hollywood movies seem to incorporate Glitter's tune into the musical score.

Got to love pop culture.

In England, 90% of the population associate that song with his crimes. Over here, probably only 10% of the population does, and closer to 90% associate it with football celebrations.

My attitude, and that of many I think, is why should we penalize *ourselves* for *his* crimes by denying ourselves this particular music we enjoy? That makes little sense.

I hope it starts reappearing in more NFL stadiums.

Re: OT: Rock and Roll Part 2 being played in NFL stadiums again

Given the choice I would rather listen to music made by non-child-molesters than music made by child-molesters.

Re: OT: Rock and Roll Part 2 being played in NFL stadiums again

I'd be willing to bet that the vast majority of Americans:

a) Don't even know who sings the song;
b) If they do, they don't know that he's a scumbag.

I don't think a lot of stadiums ever stopped playing it.

Re: OT: Rock and Roll Part 2 being played in NFL stadiums again

It's a good musical choice. It gets football and basketball fans excited and more into the games.
