Re: Schefter:The man behind the man

Still even after a rarer interview with one of the smartest men in the league, the mystery of Adams, and what he actually does, lingers.

Hehe, there's some serious insight.

Re: Schefter:The man behind the man

I really liked this quote. Humble lunch pail attitude.

He (Adams) pauses a moment and looks out his hotel window thoughtfully, then continues: “There are books out there on the New England Patriots’ master plan. The truth is, there is no master plan. You just show up every day and try to get a little better. And get players who will not put their ego above the team.”

Re: Schefter:The man behind the man

read Patriot Reign by Holly(?). Pretty much the same thing was said there. Ernie has been a big part of Bills success, but nobody knows what he really does. Sort of organization ghost, everyone knows who he is, but they might not know him by sight.

What a great read. Thanks for posting that link.

Respects,

Damn, I really wish I could read that entire interview.

Im not gonna lie, Ive a Patriots fan for over a decade now, and I had no idea who Ernie Adams was... not that I really know what he does even now.

I believe Ernie Adams may be one of BB's only true peers when it comes to intellectual ability and love of the game and the ability to put the two together to be successful.

Most of Us have a friend like Ernie Adams is to Bill Belichick. We don't think of it in those terms but We all have one.

can someone post the entire article in here?

Great find will copy and make the "big" book..

Interesting article,thanks for the link.

Sounds a lot like this article from ESPN.com earlier this year: ESPN.com - E-ticket: Who is this guy? . Ernie Adams is refered to as Belichick's Belichick. I thought that was pretty clever.

'Belichick's Belichick' is how David Halberstam originally referred to Adams in Education of a Coach. Any Pats fans who haven't read that book really, really should go and get it today. It's a great read; I really can't stress it enough.

I haven't read that book, but I just re-read the beginning of the ESPN article, and they reference "Education of a Coach" as the origin of that nickname. I had forgotten that.
