Apologies if this has been posted to the message board already — I didn’t see it. I know we haven’t seen Corey Dillon around these parts in a long time, but I felt the need to link to this story, simply because it sounds so amazing. Per TMZ.com, it sounds like No. 28 was bilked [...]

"As for the [$470,000 investment], Corey claims the shop owners blew it on stupid stuff like "fast food, perfume, liquor, groceries and gasoline."

Oh my God - they bought GASOLINE with his money?

Seriously, this is now a civil court case - its not like they took off to Argentina.

If it was over this past summer, they probably spent all of it on gasoline.

I'm guessing these guys are bad people, but I still wouldn't sleep too soundly with Corey Dillon mad at me.

They must be real idiots.

By the way, he's not looking too bright in this either.

yeah, no twin turbo should ever cost that much.

Not even a fraction of that.

I don't know, he lives out in Calabasas, which is near where I live in SoCal, and all along the 101 there are lots of high-end car dealers in that area. If it's one of the shops near there, in an ultra-rich neighborhood, I could see why he would think everything would be on the up-and-up. You wouldn't think those kind of places would totally hose you.

Hopefully he can get a good lawyer & re-coup his money from them. Unlike others who for some reason like to see ill befall certain ex-Pats, I wish him nothing but the best.

I'm still trying to get past the part where the garage people say, "That'll be $700,000" and Corey says, "Okay, here you go, when can I get it back?"

I would not want to mess with Corey though. Even in his probably overweight, retired state, he is a force to be reckoned with.

Why would you give somebody over 400,000 dollars? Doesn't he have a lawyer or manager?

First off it's a Ferrari. Second of all, businesses that work on top of the line cars like this and do custom work get an insane amount of money for whatever they do.

When I read about athletes and celebrities being swindled out of their money, I always wonder where are their agents. While I know the agents don't make a commission off the player's investments and therefore aren't incented to spend a lot of time on it, you would think it would be in their best interest to at least point them in a better direction. While it may sound boring, why not show the player how to invest the money in some mutual funds - or refer him to a reputable financial advisor?

Did you even read the article? He spent ~55k and invested the rest. You dont "get investements back".

That being said, I wonder what these guys did to get $450k worth of private funding. If I had that much money, I'd have a far greater chance of getting it back than those dudes.
