For certain, nothing's up, the P-Squaders are en-route to Cali

Re: Obviously comething's up, the P-Squaders are en-route to Cali.

Oh please, you titled the thread "Obviously's something's up" which clearly pooh-poohed the (obvious to most people) possibility that the reason they desired to have the practice squad was... they were practicing. Unlike all other road games except SD.

yeah, I should retirle thread. Will that make you feel better?

Re: Obviously something's up, the P-Squaders are en-route to Cali.

The article was just updated:

3) Practice squad players en route. The Patriots have their eight practice squad players, who normally don't travel to road games, joining the team for practice starting tomorrow. [update 8:15 p.m. The practice squad players also traveled on the last trip to the West Coast.] Given the injury situation, the Patriots certainly need the bodies. With Vince Wilfork (shoulder) and Ty Warren (groin) ailing, a player like practice squad defensive lineman Titus Adams is likely to see more practice reps. Players are off today, with their first practice of the week scheduled for tomorrow.

Maybe Reiss was reading this thread recently?

Re: "maybe" something's up, the P-Squaders are en-route to Cali.

They ARE part of the team....I was more or less sure they went last time...they are PART of all practices...the ONLY time they are not with the club is traveling to a game...

Re: "maybe" something's up, the P-Squaders are en-route to Cali.

It sounds to me like these players are forming some sort of a squad and travelling out to meet the team on the west coast - perhaps so that the team can practice against them.

But what shall we call them? Any suggestions?

Re: "maybe" something's up, the P-Squaders are en-route to Cali.

well let's see, maybe the pats think they should practice alot considering their defense is half new and we just got colvin and seau last week. so doo we wear out colvin and seau out during practices when they are probably sore as heck this week or do we bring in the full practice squad and wear them out?

The "practice" squad is not a team that plays against the regulars. Its just extra bodies for the practices to take some reps from the vets.

i guess people would have kind of figured that out since there are only 8 of them and even if they played offense and defense there still wouldn't be enough

Mike Reiss updated his info....the PS players did travel last trip to the WC, so nothing unusual going on at all.

thanks.... even though it doesn't relate to my post:confused:

The practice squad players are probably out with the team so they play there scout roles and maybe make for a lighter practice load for the starters. Plus given the injuries, the more time they can get with the playbook, the better.

Fixed it, it related to the thread not your post.

Yes - the players on the practice squad practice with the team. Where is the confusion?

I think most are aware they are not another 22 players that make up the the Patriots Junior Varsity Team.

Um, if it's the "Practice Squad," maybe they're going out to help the Active Roster players "practice?"

The Walk-through Group? No... The Tryout Team? Nah ...

I got it! The Scrimmage Platoon!

You're welcome. :D

the Taxi Squad ;)

Seems like another Boston paper made the wrong assumption about the info, as well...

All eight players from the practice squad will practice with the team today. Normally, those players don’t travel, but given the injury situation - Bruschi, defensive end Ty Warren [stats] (groin), nose tackle Vince Wilfork [stats] (shoulder), safety James Sanders [stats] (ribs) - it’s all hands on deck.

Wow...these guys are really trying to make a story where there is none. When I read this the first time the first thing that came to mind was this seems normal they practice with them every week. Why would they bother to look and see what we did last time before making assumptions

Reiss & Keruegian are usually much better than this. Shame....Shame

BB had mentioned he was going to make some minor tweaks this road trip vs last trip out west.

IIRC last time the PS traveled with the team in advance of the first game stayed with the team the entire time then flew back after the second game.

I suspect the tweak is the PS is only go to the practices and will fly back to Boston on Friday night

It was pretty obvious. I think the OP tried to turn it into a pertinent topic
