Take Pride In This Team

Given the 2008 Patriots ability to squeeze as much juice out of their lemon, you would have to say that Patriot Pride is at beaming 10 on a 0-10 scale when it comes to the AWPF meter.

Sheesh.

Bill Belichick and his coaching staff have worked their pants off this season in arguably their best job of his Patriots tenure. Matt Cassel has blown all of us away with his play this season.

Can I get a Freudian analysis on this article?

I wouldn't touch that with a 5'8" Hungarian, let alone a 10' Pole.

Budda boom...

But yeah, nice article.

You left out the suicidal fans, though. Like the ones I met last week here in Bath, Maine. 2 idiot JETS fans, with green letterman jackets and ballcaps, half in the bag, and standing on the street outside one of our bars hollering "Patriots Suck @ss" at the tops of their lungs.

Didn't last long. The next thing they saw was a pair of Patriots Blue lights flashing in their faces as the local cops arrived, and them only seconds before the locals inside the bar :)

That was a great article. Rousseauis right. We all should be proud of this team and most of us are, I'm pretty sure. Even at this point.
Pats end up 11-5 that would be all we ever won pre BB. Once in franchise history in fact.
Even 10-6 is respectable.9-7, I really don't want to see but it would be better than 8-8.
The Pats can do 11-5.

Yeah, yeah. I guess he's right. And, in fact, I am extremely proud of this team and have been since I was one of those defending Matt against some of the nonsense that was being thrown at him in September. And, yes I am proud to wear my Hoodie this season, even here in Manhattan.

But, I have to make a confession. Part of why I enjoy wearing my Pats gear is to RUB IT IN to other teams' fans.

Do you mean to tell me that some guy wearing Cowboys gear 15 freaking years after their last SB isn't saying something like, "My team has been to and won more SB's than your team has even thought about going to?" Well, I like saying, "Hey, when your Jests or Giants have gone to four of the next seven SB's and won three of them, talk to me about Tyree and Favre. Until then, shut up."

I know that's kind of, well, not nice, and not very "sportsmanlike," and I'm sure I'm the only one who feels that way....but I guess I'll just have to live with myself.

You're definitely not the only one who thinks like that. That's the prerogative of a true fan. To be proud of the team, through highs AND lows.

Big props to you for wearing your hoodie in Manhattan. I got my Patriots hat sitting on the desk of my office in Jersey, which is basically NYC's 7th borough (after Long Island).

As a former resident of Bath, Maine I can say .....the Jests fans should thank their lucky effin' stars the cops showed up.

Thanks and "Welcome to the Board."

At the beginning of the season out here, a few folks lost sight of the fact that this is a GREAT FRANCHISE even if we have an off year because of injury or whatever. Our fan base has made the transition from thinking like losers to thinking like winners. Now, we have to make the transition from thinking like winners when we're winning to thinking like winners even when we're not on top.

Does anyone think that the Steelers or Cowboy fans feel that they're supporting a bunch of losers when their teams are outside the chase for a few seasons? Not the fans I know in those cities. Their attitude is "We've been to eight (Boys)/six (Steelers) Super Bowls and have won five of them (they've each won five). What's your problem?" That doesn't mean they don't get impatient after a few bad years or, in the case of the Niners, some bad management, but fundamentally they don't hang their heads.

We've got to take the attitude, "No team has dominated its Conference or the League since the Cap era like we have--we've been to five SB's overall...let's see you go to five Conference Championship games and four Super Bowls in seven years and win three of them in this environment and then come talk to me about how good you think your team is."
