OT: Romeo to Jets as DC next year rumors begin

If Woody Johnson were smart he'd demote Magnini and have Romeo in as HC.

Thank goodness he's not smart! As it stands if Mangini can't win the AFC East this year he never will, so could well be looking for a job himself.

Part of me almost wants to see him stay on as HC of the NYJ as he more or less assures that any Patriots team close to being healthy is near assured of sweeping his team. But if Romeo's really looking to land with the Jets he'd better hope that MangIdiot makes the playoffs.

everyone is quick to jump pointing out BB's record without brady. Well , what have all the coords who have left us/BB done elsewhere without BB ?
mangini and crennel are good football coaches. game management is not something their strength.

The same could be said of BB until he got his second go-around here in New England and he had many more years to try than the average coordinator does.

RAC, Mangini and McDaniels will all end up being good HCs in my opinion. Eric will probably have to go to the college game because bad blood against BB or not it will probably be hard for him to find a job in the league as a coordinator because you know every coach in this league has some dark secrets they don't want let out.

Crennel is 61, he's not going to be a head coach again. One and out for him.

Mangina worked under Crennel, not vice versa... does he really want to see that script flipped, in addition to losing a HC job to go to DC?

If nobody likes him as a head coach, I would think other DC jobs would be his preference over the Jets, with the caveat, of course, that his forte is really the 3-4 (the only thing really arguing for working under Mangina, other than the "old school tie.")

If I had to guess I'd say RAC is closer to BB than Mangini, which makes it less likely to me that he'll ever be DC of the NYJ as long as Mangini is there.

wisgful thinking Mangini...he worked for him..so flip it around...

I have heard the Romeo has a better relationship with Mangina then BB. Not sure if that is true or not.

I don't know their relationship, but I'd imagine Crennel would come to NE in a lesser role with BB before working under Mangini. Would be great to get both Romeo and Charlie back next year, that'd give us the deepest staff since the Holmgren staff in GB with Reid, Gruden, and company.

BB
McDaniels
Pees
Capers
Weis
Crennel

He needs a job and if he get it good for him.

What we need is a old offensive coach if josh leaves. in defence we have pees and dom so i am not so worried ,we are rebuilting and 1 more draft with some defensive starters especially in the back 7 will be good.

Well, it would stink if RAC goes to the Jets, but what can you do? You can only control what you can control. Even though RAC knows how BB thinks, BB also knows how RAC thinks. It might not be such a good thing for the Jets. Mangini hasn't exactly started sweeping the Pats every year since he went there.

At a coaches meeting, Mangini and Crennel were seeing laughing it up while neither said a word to Belichick who was sitting nearby. This happened last Spring.

How on Earth would this be:

A) Realistic; and
B) A Good Thing.

**** Vermeil and Marv Levy were head coaches at older ages, and there were many more I'm sure, but those two guys were in great shape. Think another organization holds his weight against him? Probably not as much as his record with Cleveland?
