A few quick observations from being at the game (very tired at the moment):

*Qwest Field is a spectacular place, built to hold noise and bounce it down onto the field. The Seahawks fans are LOUD, as advertised. Also very civil folks by and large. One of the NFL's better fan bases.

*BB spent a lot of time talking with Holmgren at midfield before the game. Holmgren has a local TV postgame show and commented on it when asked by a fan via e-mail. He said he and BB go back as competitors about 25 years, and that they have mutual respect for each other. Said they talked about common players they've had, etc. Also said BB gave him some flattering compliments which he appreciated.

*The obvious onfield stuff I'm sure most of you saw on TV: The defense looked very unsure of itself in the first half and confused at times. Lots of substitutions, people in and out, Colvin and Seau trying to find their feet again, defensive backfield very vulnerable, etc. Also, Cassel missed several open receivers on what would have been big plays. I was nervous about this game all the way to the end. Wallace's late 20-yard scramble put them at our 42 and I thought overtime was inevitable. Thank God for Meriweather's blitz and the fumble.

*Randy Moss walked off the field alone the moment time expired. What's up with that?

*Seattle played with a lot of intensity for a team that had nothing to play for. We seemed to play right into it by not working harder to establish the run.

*Seneca Wallace looks like he has potential to be a starting QB in this league. At least, we made him look that way.

*Thank God for Wes Welker. Seattle fans were marveling at his play.

*The stadium is downtown on the waterfront. Tailgating is replaced by fans partying in nearby taverns/restaurants before and after the game. Pretty festive atmosphere. The team has a drum corps called Blue Thunder that plays in the stadium and also travels around to the various taverns to play a few minutes in each and pump up the fans.

*Downtown Seattle is a fun place. The seafood here is amazingly good. I've had three different kinds of salmon, huge razor clams, rock fish, etc. Seems like seafood gets better play here than it does in Boston.

*Seahawks cheerleaders are very, very foxy.

*In summary, a gut-wrenching game that was surprising in how well Seattle was prepared and how hard they played. We escaped with a win in a game that easily could have ended in the Seahawks' favor. Everything else: first class all the way. I was glad to have this experience as a visiting fan after the crapfest experience earlier this season in San Diego. Too bad Seattle is no longer in the AFC.

He's just a different bird - he did the same thing after we beat SD in the AFC Championship Game last year. I wouldn't be surprised if he's frustrated having a QB who can't throw the ball deep accurately. It's frustrating to me to see it, I bet it's more frustrating up close :)

Might as well beat that dead horse. Any team with fast QB/RB or WR-TE has a chance against us just based on athleticism.

Sorry, that's just the way it is right now.

This is how I'd have phrased it :

"Any team with a QB has a chance against us"

That's the BF sarcasm we've all come to love so much! I'll have to admit, I agree!

Seattle is the only place I've attended an NFL game.

I loved it

Our pre-game party was fantastic. Several hundred Pats fans filled up the Showbox, Mosi Tatupu hung out and graciously submitted to numerous pictures and autographs and the big surprise of the day was Bob and Jonathon Kraft who arrived unannounced via limo.

They each spoke for a few minutes before heading off to Qwest Field.

After the game, most of reconvened and had more celebratory drinks while rooting for Washington who didn't come through.

Fantastic day all around.

Thanks for the report, Tune. Were there (m)any Pats fans there other than yourself?

They are very loud, but being civilized? After many experiences at qwest I feel that they're one of the worst fan bases I have been around. I have watched a seahawks fan throw a full soda at a 5 year old girl wearing a colts jersey. I was at the infamous tony romo game where he botched the snap and watched many of them curse out fans wearing cowboys gear. Today I was called cheater throughout most of the game and was shoved by a seahawks fan outside the stadium for no reason while I waiting to cross the street. I felt they've been very classless towards opposing teams fans but I guess that is just my experience attending games here my whole life. I'm glad you had a better crowd experience.

Cassel is locking on his primary guys. He rarely scopes the field.

If Moss is being used as a decoy, he's basically out of sight and out of mind.

Hard to ask Matt to do more since this is his first go round, but I'm sure Randy breaks open several times per game without Cassel seeing him simply because of the play call (i.e. Moss is farther down the list of progressions).

Seattle is a pretty cool place.

A lot of hookers get murdered there though.

It must be the weather.

You are reading too much into this. Moss always leaves the field as soon as the game is over. I think part of it is that he wants to be dressed and out of the locker room when the media come it.

Randy Moss is my favorite player in the NFL ever since he entered the league. But this year has been the Worst for him with those unexplainable Drops. Tunescribe? did Randy stop running when Cassel threw that razel dazel Bomb play? seem like he gave up on the play.

Unfortunately, there are always a "select few" fans, who act like jerks to opposing team's fan's.

You mean did he stop running after he saw the ball sail 10 yards over his head? Of course he did. Is he supposed to sprint after the bouncing ball?

As someone said in the Game Thread, "You can't stop Seneca Wallace; you can only hope to contain him."

And Boomah on EEI this AM said w3 was "the best trade the Patriots ever made. What the HELL was Miami thinking?" Said he should be in the Pro Bowl but the probllem is that he's not 6'4" making leaping catches way downfield.

Another 5 star report from the field. Keep 'em coming people.

We see this year why MOss has the reputation he does. When they are winning, we tolerate it, when they are losing (or not doing well) we question it.

Thanks for the onsite reports. The Showbox pics were great.

I hope to survive my trip to Oakland for a similar report next week.

Regards,
Chris

You said the fans were loud, was the place sold out?

I give them major credit for being that supportive for a 2-11 team. We're 8-5 and you see more whining than excitement it seems.
