You think this season has been rough...Reiss remembers when we last played in Seattle

Oh geeez...Missin' Sisson! I forgot about him.

Re: You think this season has been rough...Reiss remembers when we last played in Sea

After living in the northwest for the past few decades, I am painfully aware of how infrequently they have traveled to Seattle. I couldn't make that game but thought they'd be back sometime soon. Fifteen years later. Now I am living in Boston so I won't be there.

Seahawks stadium is a great stadium. I hope some of you are able to see a game there. Seahawks fans are the worst I've seen to opposing fans. It's all that time in the rain and awful traffic. Makes them really unpleasant.

kind of ironic Drew didn't play and Mirer scores a TD......one might have thought their paths would be different

Re: You think this season has been rough...Reiss remembers when we last played in Sea

The Patriots historically struggled in the Kingdome. This has to be the first visit to the new stadium. I hated watching football in the Kingdome. If you have to go to the bathroom, you miss a quarter of football.

As far as this matchup goes, the Patriots should win this hands down except, I believe this team is gassed and they would be better served getting ready next season.

I miss those days when the team had a real RB and defense.

Re: You think this season has been rough...Reiss remembers when we last played in Sea

Remember the controversy about who would be a better NFL QB, Mirer or Bledsoe.. I thought Mirer would, but then what do I know..

OMG... Leonard Russell!

I'm sure we didn't play the Seahawks much in those days, because that's when the Pats started getting good while Seattle was always mediocre. Before the realignment you didn't play every team in the other divisions of your conference on a rotating basis, you played two teams out of the other two divisions - remember back then there were five teams in a division (and for a few years, the AFC Central even had six) and those teams were determined by your standing the previous year. I.E., if you won your division you would play the first- and second-place teams from the other two divisions the following season. From '94 on the Pats were rarely as low in their division as the Seahawks were in the AFC West.

Then with the realignment shifting Seattle to the NFC, that guaranteed the teams would only meet once every four years and in Seattle just once every eight years.

One final thought - IMHO, the Seahawks looked much better in their old uniforms than the ones they have now.

This all reminds me of how good we have it these days, with a good Football team, teh internetz, great TV coverage and so on.

As I said on the Planet, I'm glad that the team doesn't suck that badly now, because I would get to watch every minute of it; back then, I saw the odd highlight and read about it.

Thank (insert appropriate deity or other belief about the start of the Universe here) that Parcells came along, with Drew, and we reached respectability.

Re: You think this season has been rough...Reiss remembers when we last played in Sea

"Secules started in his place, and completed 15 of 30 passes for 129 yards, with no touchdowns and two interceptions.

The Patriots lost, 10-9, dropping them to 1-6 in Bill Parcells' first year as head coach."

Damn that Parcells damn him to Hell for not having an adequate backup. :)

Thankfully this forum did not exist back then so the loud armchair fans could not castigate The Tuner for not having an adequate backup. Actually, I remember grousing about Secules, along with tens of thousands of other Pats fans. What we DID have back then was USENET newsgroups. They're still active.

Re: You think this season has been rough...Reiss remembers when we last played in Sea

I remember them playing Seattle twice that year for some reason (and losing both times).

Re: You think this season has been rough...Reiss remembers when we last played in Sea

OMG... Leonard Russell!

I'd take Russell's stat line every day if I could. 97 on 21carries is awesome for this Patriots team.

Scott "Won't you let me take you on a" Secules reminds me of Chris Berman's NFL Primetime playcall nickname.
I googled this website:

Funny Sports Names

But was disappointed to see Vincent "Ultimate" Brisby not included!

I wasn't ripping on the guy. I just hadn't heard that name in quite a while, like back when I was still into collecting football cards and playing Super Tecmo Bowl on my old Super NES.

Incidentally, Secules was almost as good as Bledsoe when playing that game.
