Plenty of bad blood circulating through NFL - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

as usual
Belichick is to hard feelings what the sun is to natural energy. He offers a limitless supply. And with all due respect to the Jets, the feelings of bitterness run deepest for the Colts, who have found a myriad of reasons to loathe the Patriots coach. From the postseason history to Spygate to his annually frigid handshakes with Colts coach Tony Dungy, it’s a recycled hatred that has reached self-sustaining proportions.

This year’s moment didn’t get a lot of media attention, but it irked the Colts just the same. It took place when, during the run-up to the Nov. 2 game at Indianapolis, Belichick seemed to make a subtle hint that the Colts weren’t being honest with their injury report. At least, that’s how some Colts players took it, when Belichick said of Peyton Manning’s lingering knee issue, “If I’m not mistaken he hasn’t been on the injury report all year, other than maybe one day right at the beginning of the season. I’m not really sure what injuries you’re talking about.”

It had the feel of a deft poke in the eye – one that some Colts players didn’t appreciate, particularly considering the source.

“Coming from Bill Belichick, that’s frickin’ hilarious,” Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney said. “Tony’s not going to do that. He’s not that type. That’s the type of stuff Bill does. That’s just the type of mentality Bill has and they have as a team. Every week last season, frickin’ Tom Brady was on the damn injury report with an ankle or whatever, and he was playing every week. That’s just the kind of stuff they do. So don’t come out and try to act like we’re doing

Nothing really new or surprising. It's really just a take on the "My family is perfect. Everyone else is an asshat." way of thinking.

If only Bill Belichick was as classy as Bill "Break Flutie's F*cking Leg" Polian.

Seems like they're really digging for something there.

I just want to know if Fisher will throw Dungheap a bone in week 17 and sit everyone if the Colts need a win to get in?

btw, another bad blood is titled

joey porter vs. everyone...

The stupidity of the Colts never ceases to amaze. Here Belichick is tweaking the NFL for its offset for gamblers, and the Colts take offense.

Stupid morons.

Makes you wonder if they ever took a class in college.

lol....ohh yea, not mr. pure dungy....NO WAY

not like hes got additional noise in HIS stadium, or has the refs favor HIS team....

Also careful with the spelling of RUUD wouldn't want to look like you don't know what you are talking about.

Leave it to the Colts to ge ttheir panties in a twist over something so innocuous.

Why is everyone on Bill's nutsack about being "classy"? Jesus, his job is to win football games. I'm so sick of reading these articles. He doesn't have to be friendly. He has to win football games! Get something else to write about clowns!

Does Tony Dungy have a friend in the NFL. Jeff Fisher is a friend of BB's along with a lot of NFL coaches. Don't worry about any of them.

thanks, will fix it pronto....

i get the ruud and redd mixed up...

same as w/ our rookie cb's (i didnt even include their names :D)

wheatley is on IR right?

News must be slow right now in the NFL or else they need something besides Plaxico to talk about. I mean how many weeks ago did the Colts and Pats play?

And bad blood between the Colts and Pats. Who would of thought that? ;)

We get it...Belichick is not very popular. Luckily this isn't Homecoming King and Queen voting, it's f*cking football.

:deadhorse:

As others have noted, odd timing for the article. Belichick made those comments before the 11/2 game, so we're talking about an article written in December based on a statement made in late October. And there is a chance that the Colts and Patriots will not play each other until next season, at the earliest. Strange choice to try and stir things up.

As far as Freeney's comments ("Tony’s not going to do that. He’s not that type."), didn't Dungy make several unsolicited comments about "spygate" during the offseason? Or am I remembering things wrong?

It is hilarious. More so since Indy took the bait.

He loves tweaking the Colts and I do find it tremendously funny. God knows (and I mean that literally) that Dungy has no sense of humor.

Not quite as good as asking for more security in case Polian goes out of control, but still pretty good.

[You see Tony, Bill is really concerned with the integrity of injury reports *wink*, that's why its funny.]

If so, it's the kind of arrogance the rest of the league perceives the Pats and their fans being the most guilty of.
