There's much work ahead for GM Smith; here's where to start

The San Diego Union-Tribune suggests that LaDainian Tomlinson could be traded in the offseason.

Tomlinson has a monster contract that would have to be redone to facilitate a deal. He also turns 30 before next season and will be coming off his worst year as a pro, so his trade value is weak. While GM A.J. Smith could draft LT's heir apparent in April, expect to see him back in powder blue in 2009.

Lady Tom in New England? Do not want.

I don't see anyone taking on LT and that massive contract. He's old for a running back, has a lot of miles on those legs, and seems scared of hits, almost like Sean Alexander last year. He's about done. I bet they wish they had michael turner back.

Re: OT: San Diego could trade LT in the offseason

Not if he retires.

If you listen to some of his comments this season they seem to hinting this is on his mind.

The one comment I remember specifically was him saying that he would never quit on his team but his body wasn't letting him do what he used to do.

Note: I completely butchered what was really said but it was something along the lines of his body not allowing him to do what he used to and feeling like he was letting his teamates down.

They should have thought about this LAST year before letting Michael Turner go.

Re: OT: San Diego could trade LT in the offseason

He sure as hell has hit a classy wall. He was a great classy tailback for a while. Unfortunately, he was the classy center of a classy offense for a long time and took quite a few un-classy hits that may or may not have stemmed from his opponent's head coach. It was pretty obvious that his classy gas tank was starting to run low on classy gas. If he gets cut or traded, well that's because of straight class homie. I sure can't wait to hear his classy HOF speech when he states with such class how classy he is.

Screw LT. BB/Pioli should go after Brandon Jacobs of the Giants with fervor. His contract is up, could get tagged, but he would do a nice Cory Dillon imitation

Re: OT: San Diego could trade LT in the offseason

Where would he go? I'd bet Seahawks maybe. It seems like not many teams are in need of a HB. The Patriots are like one of the few teams with no standout running back.

That's my thought exactly. Granted it would have taken giant stones to trade away LT last year. Tomlinson is only 29 and should have had at least two more All Pro years left in him coming into this season. Turner was an unproven back up who shined in his few chances to take a significant role. No one really expect this guy to be the second best rusher in football at this point in the season.

Would you be offended if I called this post a class act? :D

Re: OT: San Diego could trade LT in the offseason

As for trading for Tomlinson, I would offer a fourth or fifth as long as he redid his deal. He will be 30 next season and even if he rebounds from this season, he will only have a year or two left.

Re: OT: San Diego could trade LT in the offseason

I want to trade for him just so Belichick can have him run extra wind sprints in practice every day just to show him how classy he really is

I would pass on LT as well.

However if you think the Pats need a big RB, check out J Lane of Texas A&M.

Re: OT: San Diego could trade LT in the offseason

So who would be better on the Patriots, LT or Larry Johnson?

I think LJ could be a young, faster Corey Dillon circa 2004 on the Patriots.

Re: OT: San Diego could trade LT in the offseason

Why is it that the media is always saying how "classy" LT is?

Since Norv took over, his true colors have come out-it's as if you think the Chargers cloned TO.

Re: OT: San Diego could trade LT in the offseason

get ready for LT in the media booth and spew more pats hatred like marshall faulk. i see that coming very clearly.
