The Patriots just officially announced the signing of OLB Rosevelt Colvin, and at the same time, filled the final spot on their practice squad with LB Angelo Craig.

The 23-year-old Craig (6-5, 242) was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the seventh round this year. He was cut at the end of training camp and was with the Carolina Panthers' practice squad for one day in September.

Craig played at the University of Cincinnati.

Same High School as Pierre Woods, for the little that is worth.

Oh thank the Lord, our defensive problems are all solved and we are going to win the Super Bowl!

Heaven forbid we develop players that might help with depth in two years. Good thing you aren't the GM.

Honestly, it's hard to have the long view, but I think the personnel dept. has to think about next year. We have a lot of great possibilities at LB. If even ONE more of the guys turns up as a gamer or solid prospect, it helps the drafting of players we REALLY need in the secondary.

We currently seem to have a load of LB's on the roster (from the field team to IR) and that's not a bad problem to head into the off-season with.

We now have a double-level of developmental LB's and that's a very good thing, imo. The more we can spend on safeties and corners the better.

he is preceding the cincy guy the pats will draft next year.....conner barwin

Its a good thing NONE of us is the GM, we are posters on a messageboard, remember?

I would suck too but I'd do a lot better than people like you who, evidently, have no concept or value for the Practice Squad nor it's intent.

Craig was on my UDFA wish list in the past draft. He ran a very slow 40 at the Combine (5.07) and a slightly better 4.77 at his Pro-Day. I watched him play in a couple Cincinnati games and saw him in one of the All-Star games, he was a playmaker and always around the ball. With Craig and Robertson NE now has two of my 2008 OLB candidates on the Practice Squad.

Thanks for the info guys. I honestly didn't know who he was. He sounds like an interesting addition. We've added some youth to our linebacking corp. It will be fun to watch these guys develop.

We may be posters on a message board, but some of us like to be intelligent and think beyond the end of our noses. Some of us like to see the positive potential of players and realize that their addition to the PRACTICE SQUAD helps this team get better by providing the team players who can develop and who can emulate opponents..

Will he help THIS year? Probably not. But next year? He very well could.

In a typical year, the Pats re-sign most of their practice squad

players. Craig and Robertson will be in the linebacker mix on next

year's 80 man roster. They will compete with Crable, Redd, Rudd,

and Woods for 53 man roster or practice squad spots.

it is likely that the biggest reason they added him was because they had to add somebody (well, they didnt have to, but the spot was there) so why not add a prospect at a position of a position of need that he can fill........if the next rodney harrison in the rough was out there, that would have also been an option, but he wasn't so there you have it

If Ruud isn't cut in the off season for not passing his physical, he'll be lining up at ILB, not OLB. Craig and Robertson won't be competing (directly) with Ruud for a spot. I think that Ruud, at best, will end up on the practice squad.

You really need to work on your reading comprehension. I didn't say had no intelligence. I said that "some of us like to be intelligent." Do you have a guilty conscience or something? Or did I hit too close to home and you have to get defensive?
