Hey guys, i was watching sportsnet and an NFL analyst suggested that burress has played his last game as a giant. He expects the Giants to cut ties with him following this season and rid them of the distraction.

I ask you this,
If a hypothetical situation comes true and the Giants release him would you tenure him a contract offer if he came at a cheap price because of his awful off field issues.

Now im not saying its a good idea but given NE's past of converting players would you consider it?

Again completely hypothetical

EDIT*** Assuming he doesnt have to serve jail time ***

How's he going to play from prison?

do you really think he's gonna serve jail time????? i highly doubt it...

I think the sentence for the crime he committed is MANDATORY. If he gets convicted, he serves.

Actually, right now, the interesting question is if Antonio Pierce ends up being charged (accessory after the fact, tampering w/evidence, etc.).

Alright assuming no jail time is sentenced.... do you take a chance i have read people talking about housmanzadah (sp?) as someone they would like to see in a pats uni... I have a feeling that Plaxico wont get anywhere near the contract he receieved from the Gmen if he does infact get released...

Imagine that... that would really really hurt their playoff chances.. arguably best offensive and defensive player out

There was a lawyer on TV that said he probably wont do any jail time because he has a clean record. I thought it was mandatory also but I guess not.

Unless Burress can play some corner I don't want him. Even if he could, I still wouldn't want him on the Pats.

I'd rather get Stephan Marbury to coach the defense than have Cheddar Bob on the Pats. Plus there's pretty much no way he's not heading to prison.

He's got a good chance to land with the Stampeders.

Whats wrong with are recievers? (ignore yesterday.lol.)

We could use a CB, and if pacman was released, I would have to say,,,,,NO. Why bring in known trouble makers? Moss, and Dillon werent nearly as bad as Burress.

At this point it would make more sense to sign him for cheap then trade him for some pass rushers. There is no way he lands with the Pats and I, for one, do not want him.

I see you are enjoying the wisdom that is "gicksauce". As soon as I read his first post, I knew I had to help spread his wisdom by quoting him in my sig. :D

Yeah. I think he will. I live in NYC and the papers are reporting this morning that Bloomberg has chimed in, saying he should go to prison.

The city is very strict about enforcing the "criminal possession of a concealed weapon" statute, which requires a mandatory 3 1/2 year minimum and allows for up to 15 years. Apparently there are rules that might allow Burress to plea bargain the length of the sentence down (plead guilty, save the taxpayers a trial and the city another spectacle and he might get off with 2 years or so), but he's going to jail.

Bloomberg is so ticked off that he's asking the Prosecutors to charge the Hospital that didn't report the crime immediately after Burress walked into the ER and he's looking for ways to charge the Giants for not reporting it to the city right away.

If the NYC District Attorney's office is unwilling to accept plea bargains to a lesser offense, and if they go to trial with the two felony charges, it's a bit difficult to see the wiggle room for Plaxico.

I'd bet he does get convicted and serve the 3.5 years minimum, based upon Mayor Bloomberg's tough stance laid out yesterday.

So unless this thread is about signing him in 2012, I'd say it is pretty far out there.

With that gun control freak Bloomberg in office....there's a good chance of that.

I heard Sing Sing could use an outside receiver. Maybe he lands there.

last week it was trade brady for 10 draft picks, this week it is get all the WR we can because of a mediocre game.

another great thread on this forum
