The Steelers won a Halloween Night game in Pittsburgh in 2004, the 7th week into the season. That is the only time Pittsburgh has beaten New England since the big games Bledsoe handed them in 1997.

1996 the Patriots clobbered them in the playoffs 28-3
1997 Bledsoe throws to the linebacker with a 21-13 lead and 2 minutes to go, the Steelers go on to win and secure the #2 seed. Then Vrabel strips Bledsoe to seal 7-6 Steeler playoff win.
1998 Both team are 7-5 when the Patriots win a big one at Three Rivers.
2001 Patriots defeat the Steelers 24-17 in the AFC Title Game
2002 Patriots show it was no fluke with Opening Night MNF 30-14 pounding.
2004 Patriots 21 game winning streak stopped on Halloween Night.
2004 Patriots blow out the Steelers in the AFC Title Game
2005 Patriots win on final Brady drive, Vinatieri kicks game winner.
2007 Patriots pound Steelers at Gillette.

so no wonder the Steeler fans have this thing about the Patriots, they've only beaten the Patriots once since 1997, and that was in October.

They are our Washington Generals.

I think you've answered your own question. And if our "defense" (snicker) can prevent the fast & easy TD, and our OL can protect the QB, then they shouldn't beat the NEP this Sunday, either.

I do not recall this game at all. I had to go to patriots.com and look it up. I remember the games before it (Miami and Buffalo come backs) and the games following it (St. Louis debacle and Zo beating the 9ers at home), but this one escapes me.

I vividly remember all of the other Pittsburgh games on the list. Wasn't there a game back around 1995 where Bledsoe gets stoned on the goal line going in for what would be a win on a Saturday afternoon?

I would try and stay humble if I were you, it would not shock me at all if the black and gold come in here on Sunday and slap us around and walk out with a W. In games like this, I like to stay humble and hope good things happen.

James Harrison and Lamar Woodley are a nightmare off the edge, that defense can make it pretty miserable for us, don't fool yourself. Stay humble and hope that Matt can make some plays against the best D in the league.

I agree about staying humble, if only just for karma purposes. I want to win badly and I think the Pats will, but this will not be an easy game, IMO.

Good memory; I don't remember the details of the game, either, only that '95 was a frustrating season because of the hign expectations placed on the team based on the success of the '94 squad, and because of the '95 draft: Law, TJ, Curtis Martin, Hitchc0ck & Wohlabaugh.

Yep and if Bedsore didn't give them that gift pick...that game would have been in Foxborough instead of Three Rivers.

The things I remember most about this game were Glenn having nearly 200 yards receiving and a bomb TD catch; and Bledsoe throwing 3 picks but over 300 yards with his injured finger. I think Pittsburgh went on to lose every game remaining that year.

They ended our streak and took control of the AFC in 2004. Yeah it was early but not completely meaningless. 1997 was some truly painful losses. Nothing like the last 3 years but they really hurt, both of em.

We've had their number, but alot of it was Brady. He straight up owns that 'Blitzburgh' defense.

I am unsure I would say they are our Washington Generals. I think the Buffalo Bills have that category hands down.

I am sure Pittsburgh is going to give us a fight tomorrow. I expect a close game and the game will be hard fought. However, I predict the Pats will win. The Steelers have a history of blowing out inferior teams at home and losing in close games to good teams.
