ESPN - Tom Brady says he's 'doing well' in his recovery from knee surgery

BOSTON -- Tom Brady says he's doing well in his recovery from knee surgery.

AFC East

ESPN.com's Tim Graham writes about all things AFC East in his division blog.

• Blog network: NFL Nation

The New England Patriots quarterback made an unpublicized appearance Wednesday with his girlfriend, model Gisele Bundchen, at the annual Goodwill Thanksgiving dinner in Boston where they served food.

He told Channel 5 that he's "doing well" more than two months after a season-ending injury to his left knee in the opener. He also said Thanksgiving is his favorite holiday.

The television station's Web site, TheBostonChannel.com, said Brady appeared to be walking without a limp. He had an operation for torn ligaments on Oct. 6 and subsequent surgeries after a postoperative infection developed. He has been rehabilitating this month at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.

Reiss had it earlier and there's a thread kicking around here somewhere with people's reaction. I personally think Tommy just wanted to show off his stylish winter hat. :D

Funny how different articles have a different view. Tom Curren from nbc says Brady had a noticeable limp and limited mobility in his knee. Go to his blog at nbc.

Gimpy Brady Tells Boston TV Station Knee Is "Doing Well" - NBC Sports Blogs

It's only November, shouldn't be a big deal.

Curran's worst case time frame :

"The infection caused Brady to lose a significant amount of weight. Meanwhile, the current concern is whether the infection may have compromised the repair work done. If it does - and an examination of the knee's repair work will happen in the coming days - the repair work will be undone, the knee will be reflushed, scar tissue caused by the infection (Brady's range of motion is seriously limited) will be removed and -- after a six-week period -- the surgery will be performed again. With a six-to-nine month recovery period from surgery, Brady may not be ready for the opening of the 2009 season if the worst-case scenario happens."

puts him on track with Palmer and Rivers so it's not quite as gloomy as he writes, IMO.

In the picture he really did look as if he has lost a lot of weight.

he really didnt look that gimpy a month into rehap, the stupid media reading something into nothing, i get a kick out of curran saying a source told him the knee was bad in oct., duh, no kidding we all know it was infected, thanks for the breaking news tom show me a infected knee that was good

He had the slightest of limps - which at the very least should be expected since the muscles around that knee are much weaker right now. I was still using crutches at that stage of my ACL replacement 3 years ago.

Talk about nitpicking on his weight - he's had very limited mobility for the past few months. Less mobility, eating the same = gaining weight. Thankfully Tom is doing what he needs to do NOT to get fat and slow - and reporters seem to be ragging on him for it.

Good to see that he is walking without a limp, this means his trade value should be sky high...

Lol, I had to.

My sick thought also, in the absence of any trade threads today...

Curran just wants that to happen. Big difference there.

People see what they want to see. One picture is worth a thousand words and Brady was clearly limping as he walked up to shake the VIP hands,, in the video.

His injury is a 18 month full recovery cycle per the doctors. Some do it sooner others later. But it is highly optimistic to think Tom Brady can do it in half the time (to play in the preseason) or do it in two thirds of the normal expected time (which means only playing in the second half of the 2009 season). Normal 18 months recovery puts his full recovery after the 2009 Superbowl, and ready for the 2010 season.

No it isn't. Not for professional athletes with access to top surgeons and full time rehab. And especially not for pocket passers with limited mobility to begin with.

Only a tradiot would be trupid enough to consider trading Tom Trady...I mean BRADY! Good thing that talk hasn't gotten into my head!

Well Jack Harper says in this clip "obviously limping." No surprising considering how much abuse that knee has taken.

I still can't get over that it got infected to begin with. One would think that hospital would have taken super extra careful precautions to insure that wouldn't happen especially considering the hoo hah Peyton Manning's knee infection caused.

According to my medical professional sister, "staph" bacteria are always present. It's not like he was operated on by a Civil War surgeon.

Perhaps he didn't have the optimal therapy of anti-biotics.

LOL:D Seriously though you're right. Suddenly Curran's the authority on all things Patriot and especially on Tom Brady. Tom Curran doesn't KNOW anything more about Tom Brady's status than the rest of us. During preseason Curran was talking about how great Tom's life was-supermodel g/f, $, NO KIDS..... I think it was shortly after that we saw all those videos of TFB hanging out with his son and Gisele ;)
