The surprise isn't that he won. It's that Patriots.com had this yesterday.

The NFL has named Matt Cassel the AFC's Offensive Player of the Week following his 415-yard performance at Miami in which he threw for three touchdowns and also ran for a score. The honor is Cassel's second Offensive Player of the Week award this season, and he joins Indianapolis' Peyton Manning as the only AFC players to win the award twice this year. Cassel was also named AFC Offensive Player of the Week following the Patriots' 41-7 win over Denver in Week Seven.

Go Matt! :youtheman:

Mr Cassel has definately made a believer out of me and I am sure many other former Cassel bashers in this forum

Congratulations on your SECOND player of the week honors Matt,Much well deserved

Now if only our secondary can learn a bit on how to play, we will be pretty good down the stretch

Good job Matt. :D

*Applause* Still waiting for most of the former haters to eat their crow. Wendel, where art thou?

Well.... can you prove me a crow to eat then? I was on the side of "release Cassel" at the end of the preseason. But I was wrong on that which I have no problems in admitting.

I've seen the light. I thought that Cassel sucked in the preseason.

So four QBs have thrown for 400 yards in two consecutive games. Have any done it three times in a row?

On a different note; can you believe that more than half the country (including all of Cali) won't get the Steelers - Pats game?

He did suck in the preseason. But he's really improved with the playing time he's gotten and playing with the first string receivers. He was throwing the ball to CJ all preseason.

I mean, it shows you what is necessary for a QB to succeed: coaching, a good team around him, smarts, determination, talent, and practice. Put them all together and he's a different QB.

At least there's one station with some sense. :)

Not surprisingly, no. If Cassel is the first. . . .

Against Pittsburgh? That's a $100 ticket for you. But I'd love to see it.

How was this not his THIRD player of the week ? How did he not get it for his game vs the Jets ? Was it because it was on a Thursday ? 400 yards and 3tds, AND an amaing comeback ? I don't get it. I guess I'm greedy :)

Awesome pic Born... did you make that?
right click--->set as background :)

This guy is building a resume like Thomas Edison.
