Could be in a bit of trouble after yesterdays game.
With 3:23 left to play in Sunday's Dolphins loss to the Patriots, Dolphins coach Tony Sparano got an ugly glimpse of how hard to control Joey Porter is when the linebacker collected an unnecessary roughness penalty -- no doubt, on purpose.
One play later Porter was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct -- just a guess here, but whatever he did was probably premeditated. And so Sparano had seen enough. He sent Charlie Anderson into the game to replace Porter.
Porter refused to leave the field in direct insubordination of his coach's wishes. Porter ordered Anderson to go back to the bench. After the game, Porter refused to speak with the media. (So much for being a stand-up guy.)

Dolphins In Depth

I can't see Parcells and Sporano standing for anything like this at all. Wouldn't be surprised to see a big fine, and possibly a suspension levied by the team.

Another thought is the 2 "apparently pre-meditated" penalties on that drive. Besides Porter being the ultimate poor sport, I wonder if the league will step in and discipline him. You can't have teams that are losing in the final minutes start cheap shotting the other team. I wouldn't be surprised to see the NFL take action here.

I dont know......Not sure if they want to piss off Parcels, the godfather of the NFL.....

Joey Porter's a douche bag!

And in other news...

He's basically a homer fan of whatever team he plays for. He has the media savvy of a 10 year old pathological liar who's emotionally unstable. Lucky for all of us who enjoy the game he is at the end of his playing days. :singing:

^He's leading the league in sacks this year.

Actually, Parcells will turn the other cheek when it comes with his best players. While Porter is no Taylor, look at how Parcells would let him get away with murder, since he could play. I doubt Parcells does a whole lot here.

Except maybe trade him in the offseason for even more draft picks. Parcells is building that team the way any team should be built and Porter (after the season he is having) could probably net them a couple of second rounders... malcontent or not.

Florida sports media are all over this story, and most writers and talk show people ae calling for a suspension or at least a hefty fine from the Dolphins, not from the NFL.

You can't show up your coach like that, never mind losing your cool.

To me, this BS by Porter was INEXCUSABLE....and very unprofessional......The fact that Sparano has NOT Suspended this piece of dog sh## tells me that A) He really doesn't have control of the team....and that The big fat Tuna does.......or B) He does not have the respect of his players or the GUTS to bench this d-bag......Now I can tell you that in the newspapers down here in S Florida.....there were several LB's/Defensive players that COMMENTED on Porter's REFUSAL to leave the field and therefore his embarrassing disrespect for the coach.....The most glaring quote was something like :" Hey....the guy has 14 1/2 sacks.....do you want to take him off the field? Let him play"........Great.....seriously....BB is fining and suspending the guy for that kind of insubordination......AND.....NO pats players would be talking that openly and BRAZENLY to the media......Unreal.....

i think this is just an overreaction. a player was sent in to replace him and he sent the guy back. happens often. i dont think its a big deal. he is a moron though

Could you imagine one of BB players pulling that sh!t. I would picture BB marching out on field and grabbing the player by the facemask and dragging his sorry ass of the field.

At the very least, the guy would be unemployed and his locker emptied of crap before he could even walk to the tunnel, into the locker room and take a shower.

His attitude is the main reason the Steelers didn't even bother to make him an offer. The idea of having Porter on the team with a brand new head coach last season was an explosive combination. Bill Cowher kept him in check, but he'd have been a loose cannon under Tomlin.

I loved him in the black and gold, but he'd have hurt more then helped last season. And this year, he's doing great with sacks, but is still weak on run support.

That was a wise move given a 1st time HC. Let the team focus undistracted on the team issues. Besides, reigning in Rthlsbrgr's large ego small brain is enough of a challenge for any coach. Cowher knew a losing battle when he saw one. Once Rthlsbrgr had that ring given to him by the refs and his teammates efforts, he was a God to the benighted fans of that gawd awful area and impossible to restrain from 'being Ben'.

Funny how a Porter thread turns into a Bash Ben thread.

Ben's been playing as well as can be expected with the transition of going from a Bettis/Parker running team to a Parker/Davenport/Moore running team, and the loss of his entire O-Line from the SB winning team. Center, Jeff Hartings, Retired, now on his 2nd center since that retirement. Mahan was a bust last year in free agency, then we got Hartwig from Carolina. Kendell Simmons, RG, Hurt, replaced with 2nd year man out of Rutgers Stapleton. LG Faneca, to the Jets, replaced with Kemoeatu 4th year out of Utah. Marvel Smith LT, Back Injury, Replaced with Trai Essex, 4th year Northwestern, RT Max Starks Still Playing, 5th year Florida.

Could be, that maybe his o-line just isn't quite the same.

You're right, Toothless' O-line is to blame for all that happens to him and I hope they remind him of that Sunday. ;)

Funny nickname, will be about as funny as "Limpy" when Brady gets back.

All I alluded to was the play of Ben now vs when he had a different o-line when they won the SB. Fact is, the o-line isn't the same and even the philosphy of run first has changed under Arians.

Let me know when Limpy becomes the all time Pats Passing leader ok.
