This is getting ridiculous...they have a been a horrific franchise ever since the merger...people deserve better. The NFL could really get Great better ratings if they reschedule some others Teams or making this Game apart of a Flex Schedule. Again people deserve better...i don't think any of us is going to watch Detriot play...it's a disgrace...i'll be watching Bridezilla instead.

Thankfully we have two good games on Thursday (on paper anyway) but, yes, Detroit is largely a consistent joke and need to be flexed out, permanently, of this annual showcase game.

Titans @ Lions = Go Titans. Watching a team trying to put together a 0-16 season is actually entertaining.

Seattle @ Dallas = Potential snoozer blowout ala the Jets game last year. Only interesting if Seattle wins and puts the Cowboy's playoff hopes in jeopardy.

Cardinals @ Eagles = A team that's a lock to win it's divison against a team that isn't making the playoffs. Bleh.

At least the latter two could be competitive games; if the Lions are within 14 at halftime I'll be surprised even though I'm not a big fan of the Titans.

it doesn't matter who the teams are. thanksgiving wouldn't be thanksgiving in my family without football.

Yes. I propose the following.

The Thanksgiving Day games would be, Early Game: The Winner of the Super Bowl plays the OPPOSITE CONFERENCE LOSER of their AFC or NFC title game - So this year it would be: Giants VS. San Diego.

The Late game would be: The LOSER of the Super Bowl plays the Loser of the OPPOSITE CONFERENCE Title game. So this year it would be: New England Patriots Vs. The Green Bay Packers.

Thoughts?

Basicaly what you would get is the prior years Super Bowl if the "OTHER" team had won.

Why? What bigger turkeys are their in the NFL than the Lions?

I like it the way it is...Dallas and Detroit...really interestiung with teh worst and best playing...how about an upset?? Could happen...but??? Titans are too strong..but one never knows. I like the NFLN third game...that always adds to it as there is no set teams playing...I like the tradition...

That wouldn't work based on yearly schedule...i think people would like to see any Team not named Detriot.:banned:

Then the hype surrounding the game would be all or mostly about the SB LOSERS, which the teams involved probably wouldn't like too much. jmo tho.

If they go to a 17 game schedule - Which they are going to do at some point - it works perfectly.

How did Detroit end up being the 'official' T-day team to begin with?

Simple. They were the first NFL team to schedule a Thanksgiving Day game against another NFL team (against the Bears in 1934).

On Thanksgiving day, an angry Philadelphia mob...er crowd that has had a whole day to ingest fermented beverages and dead fowl.......watching a pathetic offense....It could get ugly really fast....

Thanks :) So I guess it's not likely to change then... it wouldn't be so bad if they were competitive. Was it last year they played HOU or the year before? What an awful combo that was.

Flex scheduling would be PERFECT for Thanksgiving

Goodell and the owners need to think seriously about this

Probably if it does change,Then Detroit becomes a 12-4 team

I think it's a conspiracy between the NFL and the housewives of America.
By continuing the annual Detroit stinkfest on Turkey Day they decrease the distraction of the game during dinner. No one gives a sh!t.

The end result......more complements about a wonderful meal.
Tranquility reigns....until the late game

What I am really surprised at is that the flex game has two NFC teams.

I think that it should have at least one AFC team which should be the home team.

The Lions and Cowboys are by default home teams every year. I think the third game should be a game between two AFC teams so that there are three AFC and three NFC teams playing on turkey day. This year it is 5-1 in favor of the NFC.

If they replace the Lions with the Colts would anyone notice?

They both play in a dome.

They have similar uniforms.

The only change would be quality football. Go for it.
