Akexander to IR Redd to the 53...A good move which I think means that one may see Bruchi not active for tomorrow....Redd some PT.....
That makes two openings on the PSquad....two more opportunities for players..

Bru is an ILB, Redd is an OLB

It's about EFFING time. Way to do it last minute to mess w/ the fishies.

He could have the game plan nailed or he could be all about chasing RB's and QB's. Now THIS is exciting news!

Man, we're SO friggin' old on defense... ;)

I think we might see some heavy linebacker formations to try to combat the wildcat

This is the last day on can activate someone from the PSquad...it MAY be injury related OR it might be they had planned this...and waited to the last minute..MAYBE they IRed Wheatley so they could get Robertson..not sure the whys of certain moves..I DO love it though...always liked Redd...

Yeah, this is all potentially interesting stuff...

March 11 Pro Day report from NFL.com
Liberty (March 11)

Nine NFL teams sent representatives to see 11 players working out indoors on a rubber track. The main attraction was pass-rushing linebacker Vincent Redd, a player who transferred to Liberty after initially attending Virginia and being dropped from the team for violating team rules …

" DE/LB Vincent Redd (6-5 7/8, 262: Ran the 40 in 4.54 and 4.63, had a 39 ½-inch vertical jump, 9-foot, 10-inch long jump, 7.30 cone drill, had 13 reps in the bench press, ran position drills.

NFL Draft Prospect Interview: Vince Redd, LB, Liberty

Here's Redd tackling QB Josh Johnson (who?) in pre-season.

Oh man - I hope we don't come across Indy in the playoffs - Alexander would have been a great match to cover Dallas Clark.....not

Looking fwd to hopefully seeing Redd in action. Not a big fan of Eric Alexander, and not sure why they felt he was worth waiting out a season-long injury for.

he's a smart player...and a TOP NOTCH Ster...I think the fact they waited this long is teh reason...with OTHER positions in trouble...they just could not wait...as they have with others...

He's always been a pretty productive special teams player. I have never understood why he gets dogged for being thrown in a tough situation in the AFCE. It wasn't his fault they were undermanned.

You just don't understand the rules. The long term effectiveness and production of a player doesn't mean squat. One high visibility play, good or bad, defines a player forever. Randall Gay? Allowed a touchdown agaisnt Plaxico. Ergo, Randall sucks and always will. Alexander? Had a bad game? He's no good, never will be.

Awesome. Let's see what Redd has been learning while on the PS. I won't be sad to see Alexander gone!

Are those 4 Redd, Mayo, Guyton & Crable? And Who's who?

As for Alexander's IRing, it's...about...damn...time. I now hope that the Eric Alexander Error is finally over, and that the FO will continue to start giving talent a chance.

whats the record for the most players placed on IR in one year?

Redd really interests me. He put his hand down at UVA and played backer as well. At Liberty, obviously he was a beast. Interesting combination of speed, length, strength and production. He could turn a play inside, he could rush the passer, he showed the ability to stunt and slant while also dropping and making reads. I think he is a very interesting player with a lot of upside. Hopefully, he has the cerebral capacity to learn the scheme at the pro level. From the physical standpoint he certainly seemed to have it.

I know top left and right is Mayo than Guyton. I believe it's Redd on the bottom left, Crable on the right.

Lets hope this kid can rush the passer, we need some spark. I doubt he'll get in tommorow unless they've been working him in.

Thanks for the info, BP. I don't see why Redd shouldn't be activated; he's already #3 on the OLB depth chart. Heck, we kinda need one more OLB on the 53 while AT heals.

I'm pretty sure Redd will be a passing downs kinda dude. Monster Wingspan, good speed. As long has been strength-training, could be just what the doctor ordered by Steelers week.

Things to bear in mind: he's been working for a long time, it's not like he couldn't have been training at the position for a few weeks with the ones.

Also, I see no way they make this move (Alexander to IR, Redd to roster) on a SATURDAY if he's not expected to be in the line-up.
