Does anyone know why there's such a shortage on Gino Capalletti throwback jerseys? Long story short I ordered one last year from the Patriots Pro Shop, they didn't have any so I got a John Hannah instead. Since then I keep checking back and they never have them anymore. I've even written to the Pro Shop a couple times and asked if they are going to get any more in and they always answer with something like, "Yes, very soon!"

I've looked all over the web and just can't seem to find them anywhere else either. There is one on eBay but it's too small.

Is there some kind of licensing problem with these or something? Does it have something to do with the legal fight between the old players and the NFLPA?

I've checked into this for you, did a bit of digging, and it appears that the person in charge of applying the names to the shirts is a poor speller. Quite frankly, Hannah is an easier name to spell than Capi....Copol....Capel.........never mind. :)

Im just happy they finally have Stanley Morgans jersey :D

If you want a throwback Gino jersey that happens to be autographed feel free to PM me. Unfortunately I do not have an unsigned one - but I'll keep my eyes open. :)

When I've contacted the ProShop, I was informed that throwback jerseys don't sell very well, and no more will be made. They're going to sell what they have, and then that's it.

I have found Russ Francis and Sam Cunningham jerseys available for purchase through other channels that a web search will locate.

Shoot me a PM with the size you need. I'll see what i can do for you.

How pathetic. Its not like having some throwback jerseys on hand for old time Pat's fans will break the bank at the ProShop. Yeah...I know its a business...big deal. Loyalty goes both ways....fans supported this franchise when it was the sorriest one in the league, and now they can't bother to keep $5000 in jerseys on hand that will sell eventually....just a little slower.

The Pats are a business, but they are more than a business too and their heritage should not be discarded for peanuts.

This is pic of the one I have:

Ive always tried to shop elsewhere. The proshop is really a pain in the fans a**. I wont even get started on how much they rip you off for shipping. Nope, I'll look there, and see whats new, but then go find it elsewhere.

You got that right. I have had more problems with them then anyone else I've ordered Pats merchandise from, which is sad considering they're the "official" place.

Actually how this mess got started was they were having some big sale last year - I think it was for when they were moving to the new location and trying to clear out inventory. I placed an order, including for a Gino jersey, and weeks went past without any acknowledgment. Finally I called and somehow my order had just been overlooked or something, on top of it they didn't have any more of Gino's, so I got a Hannah instead, but it made me angry because maybe if they had filled my order right away I'd have gotten mine. And now they never seem to have any more of Gino's.

I'd also like to say I agree with Ghost - they shouldn't just discard the team's history because these jerseys don't sell as fast as the modern ones. I also presume they meant that throwback jerseys for the old players don't sell as well, because when I've been to Gillette I've seen a lot of people wearing throwbacks but for current players (i.e. Brady, Maroney, Bruschi.)

I was trying to find the e-mail they sent me, but if I still have it, I can't find it. Anyway, at the time, Stanley Morgan jerseys were not available, so maybe they have changed their policy. I had been trying to convince them to sell Mosi Tatupu jerseys at the time. After politely telling me no f*ing way that was happening, I settled for a Bam Cunningham.

They are pretty inflexible, too. My son, knowing my respect and admiration for Gino, wanted to get me a #20 jersey. Couldn't get a throwback, could only order a custom jersey (i.e., you can get a jersey with any number and any name) but the kicker was that they would only allow 10 letters. Gino's name has 11 letters and they would not do it. So he dropped one of the double letters, I think one of the "L" s

Pathetic that they would rather have Gino's name spelled wrong than break their rule.

On the first game played in Gillette (Panthers preseason, not Steelers), I sat in front of the press box, about halfway up. I was with my wife (Troy Brown jersey) and son (Seymour jersey) and friends told me I made it on Gil's broad cast.

He said You know, Gil, there sure are a lot of fans showing off their pride with Patriot jerseys. Look down there. There's a Richard Seymour jersey and a Troy Brown jersey, and - what's this? A Gino Cappelletti jersey.

I'm glad Gino had the grace not to mention how his name was misspelled. Probably thought I was a dope, though.

When did they get Cunningham jerseys in????? I would love one of them, but I havent seen any on the proshop website.

and yes, Mosi would be cool also.

Did they actually make the old (red) style jerseys? When I contacted NFL shop and suggested that they have classic Patriot, Charger, Bronco, etc. jerseys available for customizations, they told me (politely) to go screw.

They don't. Reebok sells, or at least sold, a replica on-line. Looks decent though.

One other thing I just remembered - there was a guy on eBay who sold throwback jerseys of this style, he made it sound like he made them himself (if so the price was good.) He had a Gino and I considered buying one (it was actually a white jersey but I thought it would be a nice compliment to my other throwbacks which are all red.) However I kept putting it off and now he's not on eBay anymore.

It's the thought that counts. ;)
It was. I wear it whenever he comes over to watch a game or when we get to GIllette.

No, they would only do Flying Elvis jerseys.
