Assuming Baltimore loses vs the Giants, which looks like it, depending on what goes on with Indy, and if Miami can hold off the Raiders, I think this game is a must win for the playoffs.

The Colts, Raven, Dolphins, Bills AND Broncos could be 6-4 by the end of the week. The Dolphins and Colts hold the tiebreaker over us, but we have it over Denver AND Buffalo. So we would be possibly 7th in the conference. Now, I know the top 6 make the playoffs, but if we lose to Miami, the Jets would have to choke the division and Miami would have to blow up for us to make the playoffs. If we lose to Miami, the playoffs could be out of reach.

Yup.

Win and we're still in the mix, yet still not comfortable in the least. Lose and this season is over.

Colts and Dolphins will both be ahead of us by today, leaving us at the #7 seed by the start of next week.

Honestly I still don't see us making the playoffs.

@ Dolphins, vs Steelers, vs Cardinals, @ Seattle, @ Bills are all tough games, with @ Raiders being the easiest - yet still no gimmie. Seattle is finally getting their QB back and is getting a bit healthier and have the best home field advantage in football. I see us finishing 3-3 and 9-7 for the year. This team has yet to put together a 3 game winning streak and I still don't see us doing so.

If this team is able to beat BOTH the Dolphins and Steelers in the next two weeks, then I'll be feeling positive again.

Yup.

Technically no, but a loss would put us in a major hole.

Without question, we need to win in Miami.........

thats why the loss to the jets makes me sick

Well, 11-5 probably suffices to make the playoffs, and wildcard teams can win the Super Bowl.

Even so, it's close to a must-win.

yes, it is

next sunday it will be a crucial game for the season

Go Pats !

disagree...we're already in a major hole...it's very unlikely we can overtake the jests who are a game ahead of us, unless brett has a meltdown and starts throwing INT's all over the place...the dolphins have a very easy schedule and the bills have a favorable schedule as well, tho not as easy as the fins...i

if we lose this game, we're behind both the jets and dolphins...as much as I hate to say it, that's probably spelled "t-o-a-s-t"

Agreed for the most part and I hope the team plays as if it's a must win. But as someone pointed out, even with a loss 11-5 is still a possiblity if we were to lose. No guarantees, but that SHOULD be enough to get in.

Yes the next game is a must win for this team.

YES.......win and we may have some daylight....Lose....and the season is over I would imagine....can't see how else we can sneak in

yep .. already posted on this but yes for me it is a must WIN.
yes there are scenarios that PATs could still win but it is not
very probable.

In fact for PATs to have a fairly high probability of getting into the playoffs
PATs need to think every game on out is a MUST win.
Even one loss could make the difference.

Of course, almost everyone here is making assumptions about how the rest of the season plays out. And, last I checked, if anything, this season should have reminded us of that we shouldn't be taking one of those assumptions (you know, the one that starts with an "I") for granted.

Every week should be a must win this season lol.

Yes, the Miami game IS a must win.

to take over the Jets, all we have to do is Win vs. Miami and have the Jets lose against an AFC east opponent

I normally hate the term "must win", but yeah, I think the Miami game fits the bill. You lose that game, and you go to 6-5 with 5 conference losses. There are scenarios where the Patriots could win out from that point and STILL not get in (as ridiculous as that sounds, look at the schedules for Indy, Miami, etc...). It's a hole that really can't be overcome, or at the very least things would get incredibly difficult...

Say we end up tied with the Jets - with each having one loss to each other as well as Miami. Then it's AFC games, right? - which makes the Raiders game crucial.

Bleh - I'm getting ahead of myself. Shoot - I had the Pats at eight and eight after Brady went down. ;)

I think it is a must win...and while there MIGHT BE scenarios that they can sneak in, it will be hard..there might be 7 teams at 6-4 after this week..with possibly two other teams at 5-5 and gaining...a loss will push them down and that is not needed...there might be 5 or 6 teams ahead by a game...NOT good..More than anything, it would be a 3rd division loss and Miami would basically be 2 games ahead..NOT good at all. Look at where the Jets are...2nd bye...Could have been the Pats..the only good thinh is that they are playing Tenn...and if they lose today, they will rip the Jets apart..VERY crucial and needed...
