unless you win the SB everyones season is meaningless. The Pats went 18-0 last year and broke every offensive record in the books and lost in the SB, and none of it matters. The Jets fans are all excited to be in 1st place but it doesnt matter unless they win the SB. Does anyone on the planet really think the Jets are winning the SB this year? <crickets>

So to all the Jet fans congradulations on your current 1st place status. The regular season doesnt matter though, the post season does. Ill be laughing at the one and done Jets in the postseason.

I disagree, it all depends on the makeup of your team. Look at a young team like Atlanta which has accomplished so much this year. Right now they are laying down the building blocks for a bright future which includes, a beast pass rusher, a rookie franchise QB, a good young running back, a great young WR. Teams dont just put it all together one year and win, some times teams have to learn how to win through defeat

I call this phenomenon "fan brinkmanship."

firstly, the jets can be in the SB . i know iam in the minority but no one expected the titans of all teams to be 9-0 right now. if they get a 1st round bye and 1 home win ,its the AFCCG. its a tough shot but its possible. Strange things have happened this season
secondly, its easy to post this when we lose a game , but 16-0 meant something to the team last yr. So lets be moderate here..the jets and their fans have a right to be happy. they won the game -as much as i despise favre and the jets.
just my 2 cents.

Being in the SB doesnt mean anything unless you win it. The Jets are not a championship calibur team they have beaten nobody but scrubs all season and struggled to even beat scrubs, and even lost to the biggest scrub of them all OAKLAND. They wont take out the cream of the crop in the AFC let alone the best of the NFC.

Briz is a fan? I thought he was an agent's lobbyist?

if i remember correctly he claimed he will root for the team to lose every game if cassel started after the SD loss so they can get a high draft pick....

Every team has something to play for each week. A win.

There's a lot of meaning in regular-season games including for the teams that don't even make the playoffs. It's high-stakes, highly skilled athletic competition. I's far from meaningless. And I would NEVER congratulate the Green Puke for anything.

One and done. I don't care about that right now.

One and done, been there done that.

One and done, better by far then last year.

One and done, and my boys beat the Pats in there house in a regular season game for the lead in the AFCE in week 10,,,,,,,,,priceless.

The win last night was a big deal for me, a SB win would be bigger.

1st place is cool, but what is better is that my favorite team beat the Pats in a big, big game in there house.

This is what I wanted out of this season, the rest is gravy.

dude you didnt beat "The Pats". You beat a injury riddle Pats team without their best player and star quarterback Brady. From my perspective the win doesnt even COUNT. You barely beat us without Brady, Maroney, Harrison, Warren, and Adalius while you guys added 140 million dollars of free agents plus Old Man Farve. That is pretty sad, you know you would get blown out of the water if the Pats were healthy, and you even lost the first game against us which is even more pathetic. The only thing the game proved was the Pats are DEEP, in coaching and resolve, in character and competativeness. It just shows that once Brady is back next year and the Pats are healthy they will once again rule the East.

Your Jets are not championship calibur, you can barely beat scrubs, and had a hard time beating the injury depleted Pats and even lost to them in the first game. You are not winning the SB, your season is meaningless, and next year you will go back in the gutter.

ouch......

32 teams .... averages out to 3 Super Bowl championships in 80 years ... so by the time I die, I can expect to have 77 meaningless years of watching football?

Thanks Briz, you've just saved me thousands of fruitless hours over the rest of my life, as the Pats have already won those three Super Bowls. We should all just stop watching now, and find more meaningful things to do with our time.

PS, congrats on the victory Gunnails, I'm sure you enjoyed it. Since the rest is gravy for you, hopefully the Pats can beat the Jets in the playoffs.

dude you didnt beat "The Pats".

C'mon Briz. What game were you watching? If all the Pats were healthy, Watson still fumbles, Vrabel still gets a holding call, the coin toss for OT still goes to the Jets. The 3rd-15 in OT probably still happens because Vrabel released their TE cleanly at the line, and although I think Meriweather was supposed to pick him up, we can't say that Harrison wouldnt have been playing too deep as well, being that BB was telling them to get back.

The Jets beat the Pats. Are you gonna tell me that having Brady in there wouldve made the difference? Morris was healthy, and we still didnt run much. You should just go to sleep, cuz you're really not making much sense. :D

Somehow, I think that Tom Brady, Adalius Thomas and Rodney Harrison are worth 3 points to the Pats. We will see how well the Jets do next year when we are at full strength.

Sports is entertainment and athletic competition. You don't even have to have a favorite team to enjoy sports much less have that favorite team win the championship.

Meaningless? Chasing after the wind (as Solomon would say)? Perhaps, but then so again is most of life (as Solomon would say). Perhaps true meaninglessness is winning your championship - and then realizing that *that* truly doesn't mean anything.

So enjoy the ride. Be a Pats fanatic. But take the advice of someone much wiser than either of us that focusing too much on the here and now will ultimately leave you feeling even emptier than you did after the Jets won.
