First, the comeback was great.

OFFENSE
There two fumbles and 23 yard missed snap. When Cassel throws downfield for more than 20 yards, the passes looked aweful.

DEFENSE
In fairness, this group was trying to absorb two additional injuries. Woods and Wright played pretty well. However, Favre owned us, pure and simple. Look at his stats; they were great. The execution was even better. Not stopping the 3rd and 15 was the back breaker.

SPECIAL TEAMS
To me, the coverage team just couldn't stop Washington and couldn't kick away from him. Favre started in great position several times and then there was a return for a touchdown.

Does anyone get a sense of who - if anyone - was at fault of the blown coverage on the 3rd & 15?

They only rushed 3 on the play, but it looked to me like one of the lb's did not slide over to his left and fill in the underneath zone. I could be wrong as I have been trying to block that play from memory for the better part of 10 hours now.

Not totally sure, but I think that was one of the safeties.

Yeah, I hear ya.

Hmm, it'd have to be Meriweather then. My feeling was it's either Meriweather or Mayo. Either Meriweather didn't come up and fill that zone quickly enough, or Mayo didn't drop into the right spot. But I have really no way of knowing which is right, or if either is right.

The coverage team has been lousy from the very first preseason
game. The excuse then was that the unit was missing some
regulars.

I think that was Meriweather. I'm not sure if it's the same play or not but at one point everybody was all over Keller (?) assuming he'd be the go-to guy again, leaving Washington I think it was, wide open.

Our secondary's been a weak spot and definitely continues to be, though even during the SB years we've had ST issues off and on. Man we (and Meriweather too, probably) miss Rodney back there:( He may have slowed a bit but he had everybody lined up and in their places.

I think Cassel throws a really nice deep ball. Collinsworth was wrong on that.

On the Moss play, Moss would have run under that long throw but he got caught up with the defender. It looked like Moss was fending him off and then the defender grabbed his arm and tugged, and that broke Randy's stride.

They rushed more than three. Replays showed Keller lined up with Vrabel to block, but he slipped out as Vrabel rushed. Someone needed to come in a fill that void, either the MLB or Safety. Those of the type of plays were Harrison's experience is really missed. He would have made the play or at least ensured that players were aware that coverage was necessary.

I think the ILB thought Vrabel was going to jam the TE but he rushed the passer instead. The ILB was left with a bad angle and Keller was wide open down the seam. It was definitely between Vrabel and the ILB, the Safeties were back which you would expect with a 3rd an 15.

If I had to lay money I don't think Vrabel was supposed to rush, I think the play was designed for him to jam the TE and then slide into the flat. He must of saw something and decided to rush the passer, the LB did not pick up on it and next thing you know the TE is wide open.
