From the NY Post:

One Jets offensive player, who spoke under the condition of anonymity because he didn't want to provide bulletin board fodder for the Patriots, talked about being "sick to our stomachs" about the Jets' 19-10 loss in Week 2 at the Meadowlands. He felt the Patriots were vulnerable - particularly on defense. Not to mention it was the first game with Matt Cassel at quarterback, after Tom Brady was injured in Week 1 vs. the Chiefs.

The player spoke matter-of-factly about how "slow" and "old" a number of the New England defenders are and how he believes the Jets should be able to put up "a lot of points" on them tonight.

JETS DUE TO PAY BACK BILL - New York Post

The quote is stupid in itself, but does this player really think that it won't be bulletin board fodder because the Patriots cannot attribute a specific player who actually said the quote.

It also tells me that the Jet player may not be doing his homework either because tonight the only defenders who could be considered old and slow that he will be facing are Bruschi and Vrabel. Oh, and maybe Deltha O'Neal (assuming he starts). The rest of the defense is under 30. I think the Jets have more players on defense over 30 as the Pats (Bowens, Barnett, Ty Law, and Hank Poteat).

I am really starting to think that if the Jets lose they are due to hit the skids. Their confidence and lack of respect for the Pats have them due for a real reality biatch slap if they lose with them heading into the buzz saw vs. the Titans next week. It is one thing to have confidence, it is another to have confidence to a point of a lack of respect of the team you are about face. Nevermind they will be faced with the reality that if they lose that they got swept by a Brady-less Patriots and if they can't beat the Pats without Brady how are they ever going to beat them with Brady.

Slow and Old huh? Guess he didn't get the memo not to yap before the game.

Wish Seymour, Vrabel and Bruschi show them how the effective the 'old' men in the NE region are.

I agree. If a team in our division can't grab the division with a Pat's team which is Bradyless, what does that say about those teams players and fans morale?

It sucks as a Pats fan that we can't watch the awesome play of Tom Brady.{God I miss the deep and medium passes} But I have to admit this season has been interesting.
It really is a test of our coaches and players will to win with added obstacles along the way.

Well, That's just stupid.

The Patriots will do their talking on the field.

I'm getting kind of tired of the idea of "bulletin board material".

But that being said, it is remarkably stupid that he thinks the Patriots will go, "WHAT?!?! WHO SAID THAT!?!? Oh... it's anonymous... well then, no problem there."

Yes, these R-A-T-S players had better be careful. They are becoming almost as silly as the 85%-95% of this board who've been saying the same things about the Patriots defense since the Super Bowl.

The Jets always seem to be like this. They win a couple of games and all of a sudden they become the cowboys or the steelers or the patriots. Teams that have put together HX's of sustained excellence. Even though they haven't won sh!t in forty years. It also doesn't seem to matter who the coach is. The Jests and their fans think a like. Delusional.

Looking at it from a psych. stand point i could say that the rats ARE scared of the Pats and are trying to talk themselves into believing their the better team, that the pats are old and slow so we (the rats) can beat them. Before they go down that familiar alley where they get their azz's kicked.

Absolutely nothing, but it speaks volumes about the superior playmaking ability of Matt Cassel.

Well i wouldn't call Richard Seymour who recently turned 29 old.:snob:;)

Superior wouldn't be the word I would choose. Although it does mean better than their's so I suppose you are right in your statement lol. Cassel has done well enough to win games for this team and at the end of the day that is all that counts.

They are the same team that lost to the Raiders, struggled against the Bengals for three quarters, and nearly lost to the Chiefs over the last month or so right? Funny how a blowout win against the Rams have inflated their egos. Four weeks ago even Jets fans had this team buried after a loss to the Raiders.

They actually made it good point on Dennis and Callahan, they said it is like the Red Sox/Yankees rivalry of the late 90s and very early part this decade. The Red Sox looked at it as a big rivalry while the Yankees didn't because they usually got the upper hand. I think the Jets look at this as a far bigger rivalry than the Pats since the Pats have only lost to the Jets once since 2002.

Mangenius just doesn't have the presence to keep players in line. Belichick knows playing with a chip on your shoulder is a good thing so why give the other team an advantage? Other coaches may preach it but players will listen and try to apply it when a HOF coach says it.

I gotta be honest, I was starting to buy into the hype...the Jets D is for real, the Jets running game is legit, this will be Cassel's toughest test, blah blah blah. Maybe its all true. But after hearing these quotes on the radio this morning, I realized that this one player represented the whole of the Jets & Mangina's failure to control them, and that the team - like most of their fanbase - are a pack of uneducated morons. Let's just go f**k them up and put an end to Mangina's misery. No player on a Bill Belichick led team would ever offer up such bulletin board material.

At Hoylake in 2006, Tiger Woods turned to somebody on the practice putting green and said coldly [about Ernie Els], 'If I can break this big guy's heart just one more time, maybe he'll go away and stay away.'"

The Patriots are Tiger Woods.

The Jets are Ernie Els.

I haven't bought the hype yet. The Bills are declining quickly and they didn't even have to contend with Marshawn Lynch for most of the game. They seem to play their best games against AFC West opponents at home, but the Rams other than a short blip when they fired their coach have been horrible all year.

Personally, I have and will continue to reserve annointing their defense as great until after then next two game. These two games will show whether they are contenders or pretenders. Even if they lose both and at least make both games competitive, then I would give them credit.

I do agree that a player giving quotes like this should be disconcerning for Jets fans. It is a real sign of lack of discipline and maturity. You would never see a Patriots player quoted like this whether they give their name or not. Neither would you see the Colts, Titans, or several other well coached organizations. You'd see the Cowboys or Chargers do that and look what is happening to them. The two of the most talented teams in the league and both may not even get into the playoffs.

Thanks very much unnamed Jets moron!

I wouldn't get too excited about this. Remember the source is the "esteemed" NY Post, which is a step down from the Enquirer and other newstand drivel. Notice the Times, Newsday and other legit rags didn't corroborate this "exclusive". UFO's anyone?
