cant believe tomorrow is game day!!

with low temperatures and rain, i am planning on wearing the full monty (as some poster calls it -- many many layers, covered in a poncho)

PS i have tix in section 239, and no one was kicked out that i saw for cheering :p

ok the gameplan, my thoughts -- the game hinges on our pass rush

1. expect BB to be ULTRA conservative once again. in rain, lots of running. some bubble screens, lots of punting. i expect this to be very dull on O unless we get behind. this game will be close close close

2. i have to assume we can stop the run. historically, we always have once we get our ****e to gether. therefore, it will be up to Brett Favre to win or lose it. im kinda zen about that

3. i am worried that without AD, our pass rush will suffer, and Brett wil have enough time to beat us. i think the game hinges on our pass rush

agree or disagree with my logic???

also, i am looking forward to seeing the defense dance to Put On by Young Jeezy!!

Absolutely love bad weather for this team. We need rain, the game will be in the Pats gameplan completely.

Mangina's Jets beat Brady in the mud at Gillette. Be carefull what you wish for.

We are going to blow their socks off. I expect the Patriots to maybe even double whatever points the Jests manage to put up. My own guess is a 31-16 smacking of gang green and their rat master.

That was mud.

This team is way different, we rely on ball control and clock management. That's our game, and with bad weather it can help our defense make this game our style. Get it? We're more used to playing that style, so I'd say that helps us out a lot. This Pats team is an old school smash mouth team, much like the earlier clubs when they were postseason warriors.

Re: Game day! Game hinges on ....

how strange is it that the last 2 times the jets played at foxboro in the regular season under mangini have been rainy and cold ? still remember the 17-10 mudfest at foxboro :(

Re: Game day! Game hinges on ....

...whichever team can run the ball more effectively.

I was just going to say, trench play.

You want to go even further, Wilfork vs Mangold / Koppen vs Jenkins. Which nose tackle gets neutralized. It's a game tonight for the "big uglies" as they like to say. IMO

And immediately following that game the turf was installed... We don't have mud anymore. The ball will still be wet though and ball security is a big issue with the dinosaur QB.

I see it a little different: I think the Jets try to stop the run early by pulling the SS into the box. That leaves Derelle Revis one on one with Moss. I see both CB's playing tight man / bump at the LOS coverage. Welker gets Double teamed in passing situations. I see the jets selling out to blitz Cassel and put pressure on him. They are 2nd in the league in sacks.

If Sammy Morris can play, that is a big boost. The "Law Firm" will still get his carries especially near the goal line. Need to see some play action passes in the Red Zone.

Hochstein for Neal is a big matchup to watch.

Our TE's need to have a big impact on the game, both blocking and receiving. Watson down the seam should have big results.

On D, I agree, we need to stop Jones and Washington and force Favre to pass (and make a mistake like he always does). Pierre Woods and maybe some Gary Guyton on the OLB in place of AD. Mike Richardson has been around the ball ... would like to see him make an INT this week.

We need to win the turnover battle to win the game.

The ultra conservative approach won't work against the Jets Tonight neither will those Bubble Screens that worked the First Time around. Matt Cassel will have to show his arsenal Tonight ie...throwing some down field to loosen up the coverage. I expect the Jets to load up on the run game forcing Matt Cassel to beat them...i think he's ready for the Challenge. Every Win Matt Cassel get in a Patriot uniform from now on is just adding another Million to his FA splash.

i agree that the ultra conservative approach is not ideal (and i hate it)

BUT i am just predicting that that is what BB will do. get ahead by a little and play safe. like last week against the bills. like last year against the jets in the rain.

LOTS OF PUNTING

anyway, its almost gametime! lets see what happens!

TURNOVERS.

Protect the ball. Intercept #4 and we win.

Trenches for sure. Koppen got abused last game by Kris Jenkins. Also, the Pats must get to Favre. The Pats secondary can't afford their pass rush to be ineffective and allow Favre all day to throw.
