Weis/Crennel next year

Does anyone care to speculate a return if Weis and Crennel are fired after this season?

Considering what has happened in Atlanta, one has to figure McDaniels will be a hot property.

I'm with the other guy. I think McDaniels stays here BUT he will get looks and he will get offers. It's just a matter of if he thinks the "situation/fit" would be right.

I'm actually more curious as to where Weiss and / or RAC wind up more so than McDaniels. That's what really interrests me.

wiess has one of the worst offenses in football, crennals defense is hasnt stopped any one, so we fire our coordinators to bring theses guys back?? i think not, maybe as regular assistants thats it

Consider this scenario: McDaniels leaves and takes Cassel with him as part of a package deal. I doubt RAC would come back and supplant Peas. And I doubt Charlie would want to work again as an assistant.

It depends. NFL rules allow a coach to break his contract to accept a promotion, so if McDaniels was offered a head coaching job he could take it. If he wanted to leave to become an OC somewhere else, he'd either have to wait until his contract was up (I have no idea when that will be) or the team he's going to would have to work out compensation with the Pats.

Charlie and Romeo are the best at their trade when it comes to becoming coordinators.

This is silly. Years of having Charlie as our OC isn't enough to convince you? You think he forgot all that stuff when he went to Notre Dame?

Why not try this premise on for size: College athletes are not mature and heady enough to play in an offense as complex as Charlie's. The passing game, for chrissake, requires adjustments during the route.

You don't think he'd be considered for a pro job? I think he might be a better pro coach than college coach. In college, 75 percent of the game is recruiting.

At this point, I wouldn't replace McDaniels with Weis. I would prefer more continuity of the coaching staff. I think Brady is more comfortable with McDaniels since Brady loves the shotgun (he has said repeatedly that he feels he can see more of the defense while he is setting up to throw) and Weis is not a huge fan of it. Don't get me wrong. Brady and Weis have a great relationship, but McDaniels seems to be in more tune with how Brady likes to run the offense.

As for defense, I might make the switch to Crennel if he wanted to come back. In recent years, Belichick seems to have become more and more focused on the defense. He has worked with the defense when the offense was on the field when Crennel was here, but not nearly as much as he has in the last two years. Maybe it only speaks to the confidence that he has with McDaniels, but it also could be that he isn't all that fond of Pees' in game adjustments. I don't think he ever had a problem with RAC's adjustments.

I don't know if Crennel or Weis would want to come back because they could get labelled a product of the Belichick system, but I guess it didn't hurt Belichick when he came back to coach under Parcells although it did take 4 years for him to get a new HC job which may be too long for at least RAC.

I seriously doubt Charlie Weiss will be going anywhere soon.

I like both Weis and Crennel, but running an entire Football operation and Running a single dept within a Football operation require two very different skill sets.

What i think we are seeing with Weis is the Peter Principle in action.

That is someone being promoted to their level of their incompetence. Charlie has demonstrated he is great at running an NFL offense when he is given proper direction and oversight but that being said Charlie has equally demonstrated he is incapable of being effective when sitting in the big dogs' chair.

Romeo on the other hand has actually improved the Browns from what they were prior to his being named coach. I believe it was only last yr the Browns were competing for the playoffs late in the season.

Let us Always remember that the team Romeo fielded last yr was a team he had the most influence assembling and not a team assembled by a previous head coach like Mr Weis in his first two yrs of fleeting promise.

No, Romeo has not succeeded yet, nor are the Browns consistently competitive, yes he probably will lose his job.

But i think he has demonstrated that he is not incompetent as a head coach.

Lest we forget BB's first go around at head coach was also viewed as a failure.

There are a lot of factors Romeo can not control in his situation for unlike BB he does not have control of personnel, he does not have Scott Pioli and he does work for Mr Kraft.

So if the Browns do let Romeo go i hope he gets another chance someday for he does appear to have the skill set to succeed at the top of the NFL food chain.
