I present to you...

The team without its NFL MVP,
playing in the 3rd best division in the NFL,
tied with a team that spent near 150mil in the offseason

...The New England Patriots

Shoulda done a poll!

I think the Titans are the second best team in the AFC.

It's either the Jets or Pats, I will let you know on Fri..

WRONG.....1st best team in the AFC.

I know the Titans are undefeated and deserve their credit but even without Brady does that team scare you the way we did last year or the way those undefeated Colts teams did? They are benifiting from an easy schedule made easier by the Colts slow start. Now they will be a playoff team and they will most likely have the bye and will be a real tough win but they are not the juggernauts that we were and even we could be beat.

Note: there is no homerism in this post. I speak only the truth. :D

How do you figure? We may not even be the best in our division. The Miami Dolphins embarrassed us not too long ago. They've gone on to prove they belong in this discussion IMO.

The Titans are clearly #1, Steelers #2. Yet Pitt just lost to the Colts who also beat us last week. So that's 4 teams better than us. Did we forget about the Chargers beatdown?

While yes Matt Cassel is improving, I'm no more confident in our chances come January than I was 2 weeks ago. Sorry to be a Debby Downer, but the reality is we still have an uphill battle.

i would take the pats in the playoffs over the colts, the bolts, the fins and the steelers.....combined

and honestly, i dont think the steelers or the colts or the bolts or the miami wildcat are better then us....

Lol?

You assume the transitive property* for football, which is NEVER correct. You also say the Steelers are #1 in football, despite having a loss. If the Pats are worse than the teams that beat them, why aren't the Steelers worse than the teams they have lost against?

Oh... right. Because they can't exist.

*Transitive Property: if Y > Z and X > Y, then X > Z.

Algebra hurts my head. :violent:

My logic goes like this we were the best in the AFC last year and we are on top until someone that is contending knocks us off. If the Dolphins were tied with us right now maybe we would have to give them some credit. If the Colts or Bolts were tied maybe we would have to give them credit but we don't have to give credit to anyone else until they prove to be able to beat us.

*SBB Property: To be the best you have to beat the best.

Based on the season so far, the Steelers. I don't expect it to last, especially past Week 12 ;)

It's depressing to think that if the Pats had Brady this year that they would probably have an easier time getting to the Super Bowl than they did last year.

I still put the Titans at #1. I think the Pats are #2 because they are playing the best on both sides of the ball (at least consistently) of all the 6-3 teams. Roethlisberger is too beat up and indecisive right now. The Ravens and Jets are Jeckyl and Hyde on offense. The Pats aren't a scoring machine, but they have been fairly solid on both sides of the ball for over a month now.

I corrected my original post thanks ;) but I still defend my overall point. They're all about the same, but still a notch ahead of us IMO. We just lost Adalius Thomas & we have an undrafted rookie running the ball. Do you honestly believe they can go all the way as presently constituted?

Steelers. Their defense has kept them in every game, even their 3 losses.

Of course the Pats are a close 3rd and can do a lot to settle who is #2 come their meeting later this year.

Beware Baltimore. Their D has been stout much of the year and their O is now looking decent.

Regards,
Chris

How is Pittsburgh clearly 2 when they are 6-3 like us? They lost to the Colts at home, we lost in their house, only because of a stupid penalty.

If you elimnate us from being 2nd best because 3 teams beat us, then everyone else gets eliminated too.

AFC Power Rankings:

1.) Steelers
2.) Colts
3.) Titans
4.) Chargers
5.) Patriots
6.) Ravens
7.) Jets
8.) Phins
9.) Jax
10.) Broncos

I think that the Titans and the Ravens are the two best teams in the AFC with the Steelers, Colts and Patriots all at the next level.

After the Titans, I think there's a whole host of teams that would play each other pretty even, but there's some teams that match up better against us than others.

Dumb question - Right now the Steelers are far and away the 2nd best team in the conference

Just because they lost sunday does not force them down any pegs - Even the Colts are moving back up the ladder,Don't be stupid enough to count them out, they may not win easily but FIND ways to beat 2 playoff contenders the past 2 weeks and pulled out wins along the way to stay very much alive

The Patriots losing top players every week on IR hardly makes them the #2 best team,I would put NE at about 4th or 5th best right now and only a hairline above Miami - Get real

You're better than that mod, take your L like a man and eat it, you've lost 4 out of the last 5 to us

Oh, and Colts are the second beat team in the AFC, beat divsion leaders Baltimore, Steelers, and Patriots, and took the undefeated Titans down to the last few minutes of the game
