From a national perspective is Pats @ Seahawks a good game ?
I notice Eagles @ Giants is a 1: PM game. I assume it is not protected. Might be a better ratings getter.
When do they have to give notice of the change ?

Re: Will the time of the Patriots@Seahawks game be changed ?

I'm thinking it might get dropped down to a 4:15PM start. The NFL announces it no later than the Tuesday, 12 days prior (or Nov. 25th in this case).

That'd be a big advantage for the Pats, regardless of how much Seattle sucks this year they have the best home-field advantage in the league.

A mid-afternoon atmosphere is much different from a Sunday night one.

Why do you assume it's not protected? How do we find out what games are protected?

Keep in mind that a team can only be on primetime (SNF or MNF) five times a season and no more than that. If Eagles @ Giants is promoted then that will be the 5th primetime game for the Giants, so they won't be able to flex any more Giants games. A better matchup involved with the Giants comes in Week 16, which is Panthers @ Giants and it is currently scheduled for FOX at 1:00. The SNF game scheduled for that week is Chargers @ Bucs, and considering the ratings that the Bucs got in their last SNF game, I bet NBC will want to flex Chargers @ Bucs out. I also doubt that FOX protected Panthers @ Giants, and they well could've protected Eagles @ Giants instead.

I still doubt that NBC will keep Pats-Seahawks considering the lack of appeal the Seahawks currently have. Instead of flexing in Eagles @ Giants, they could flex in Redskins @ Ravens instead. You've got the local rivalry there and both teams are chasing playoffs.

In Week 17, Pats @ Bills would be a likely candidate to be flexed. Another candidate would be Dolphins @ Jets.

Re: Will the time of the Patriots@Seahawks game be changed ?

The question is what other game would be substituted?

I doubt PHI@NYG, since last night's Sunday night game was NYG@PHI. Same matchup twice? Though it was a good game.

Not many other candidates. Maybe WAS@BAL if they both hang in playoff contention. Maybe ATL@NO, rookie-of-the-year-maybe QB vs maybe-MVP QB? Maybe even MIA@BUF but only if they are both within a game of the AFC East lead.

My money is on ATL@NO getting flexed and NE@SEA going to the afternoon.

It's almost guaranteed. Seattle should be elminated from playoff contention by Week 13. FOX has Dallas @ Pitt, Wash @ Balt and Philly @ NYG. Any one of those games would be a better draw - I doubt FOX has protected them all.

Not quite. As many as three teams can have six primetime games, as happened with the Pats last year.

Furthermore, CBS and Fox each get to protect a total of five games, one a week. According to the506.com, those games are:

Week 11 - SD @ PIT, CH @ GB
Week 12 - NYJ @ TN, NYG @ AZ
Week 13 - PIT @ NE, NYG @ WAS
Week 14 - JAX @ CHI, DAL @ PIT
Week 15 - None
Week 16 - PIT @ TN, PHL @ WAS

No game may be protected in Week 17.

They are required to give notice of the change either 2 or 3 weeks in advance. I don't remember which.

For week 14: Here are the contests that are taking place on Sunday.

Washington @ Baltimore
Atlanta @ New Orleans
Jacksonville @ Chicago (protected)
Minnesota @ Detroit
Cleveland @ Tennessee
Houston @ Green Bay
Philadelphia @ NY Giants
Miami @ Buffalo
New York @ San Francisco
Kansas City @ Denver
St. Louis @ Arizona
Dallas @ Pittsburgh (protected)

New England @ Seattle (Sun Night).

This leaves really, 3 options. Washington/Baltimore, Cleveland/Tennessee, or NY Giants/Philly.

Are people on this board saying that NFL fans are interested in Mike Holmgren's "I should have retired a year or two ago" world farewell tour?

~12 days, except for Week 17, which is ~6 days. CBS and Fox were required to submit their list of protected games a month ago.

:bricks:

Well, I still don't think they will flex Eagles @ Giants, because like alamo said, NBC has already shown that matchup once this season. I don't think the NFL would like that, though NBC might.
