“We’re a contender now,” nose tackle Kris Jenkins said.

As they had done against Buffalo, the Jets’ defensive players had sauntered, not sprinted, out of the tunnel before the game. They had walked next to one another, as if they owned the place. Jenkins said this was the defense’s swagger — walking the walk.
In Smith’s place was Abram Elam, who had returned an interception 92 yards for a touchdown against the Bills. This week, Elam forced the fumble that Pace returned for his touchdown.

Pace does not have sprinter’s speed, but he did manage to rumble down the field faster than Elam had the week before.
“The difference between me and Abram is I held my form,” Pace said.
“On the highlights, they had to speed his up to get it in. Mine, they can just ride out.”

Cornerback Darrelle Revis said: “We know we’re a good football team. We showed that. Now, we’ve just got to continue to play like it.”

They beat up on one of the worst teams in the league now they are world beaters, LOL. Favre should of been picked off twice yesterday but Rams DB's can't catch. Bills should of beat them the week before as well but they made too many dumb mistakes.

Why, because they finally had a lead that even Farve couldn't blow by throw stupid picks. He going to be floating those punts on Thursday. Gotta capitilize on those mistakes.

Favre only had one TD in that game though, right?

Things the Rams gave 'em we wont:

  • Room to run.
  • Offensive mistakes.

I expect, Meri, Hobbs and O'Neil to be Favrays favourite targets on Thursday night.

In fairness, they are a legitimate contender at this point since they are tied for the division and the second first round bye. I don't know if they will be there at the end though. They need to show they have corrected their consistency issues and keep the ball out of Favre's hands a lot more. If they could face NFC West teams at home at 1 PM every week though, they would be the greatest team of all time.

Well, the Pats didn't demolish the Rams. The Jesters blew them out pretty handily.
With AdT out for the year, the secondary banged up, and the O still playing average to decent, I expect the Jets are feeling pretty confident about this week's game.

Our O and D and substantially better than they were in our Rams game, IMHO.

And the Pats beat the Jets head to head. What's your point? The Pats met the Rams when they were riding the wave of the coaching chance where they snuck up and won against two pretty good teams the weeks before. That could have been a factor.

I still think the Pats are a better team. I hope the Jets come in to Gillette overconfident. I still like the Pats' chances.

This is kinda crazy that you call out the Jet players for having confidence after a huge win.

Rams are one of the worse teams in the league, there all banged up, still a 44 point margin of victory should instill confidence.

I think our O is a little more cohesive and confident than when they played the Rams. I think our D is improving, but I can't help but see that being offset by the huge losses to injury each game.

Absolutely. Nothing feels better than blowout.

Thing is, your quarterback is no scarier than Trent Edwards. Felix Jones is no scarier than Marshawn Lynch or LT.

You have a better D than we've faced in a while and that will be the test, imo. If we can win the TOP, Hero turns to Zero.

Should be a good game and I hope you guys come with a boatload of swagger. Very likely this one comes down to a coaching match-up and THAT should make Jets fans nervous.

IF you stop the Jets run game and make Favre beat you their chances to win any gamego WAY DOWN. The Patriots can stop the run so.............

Ok..
a. I hope the Pats win, and do like our chances as well.

b. How can you talk about the circumstances surrounding our win against the Rams and not mention the 'circle the wagons' mentality of the 1st game against Judas' Jets?

Our O is still not getting TDs on a regular basis, and there's blood in the water on D with all the injuries. Meanwhile the Jesters are getting more familiar with their team identity considering all the personnel changes, so they have reason to be confident.

I surely hope BB & co. can come up with a good one this week.

This year's team reminds me of an automobile windshield. It keeps getting chips and cracks, but there's a thin film holding it all together.

LOL on the first point. Since I am in the NY/NJ area, I know exactly what you mean. :)

You are playing down the thumping W. Didn't the Rams beat the Redskins on road a few weeks back (and knocked me out of my survivor pool )? You just cannot take any team for granted based on its record. What the Jets defense did yesterday was very impressive. They caused turnovers and ensured that the team capitalizes on it.

I expect the game to be a well fought and tough game and hope Lord Favre helps us Pats in the absence of AT rushing him :D

Oh, is that what they are calling 44 point wins this year ?
A confidence builder.
Well I guess these things change from year to year.

Seriously, where are the "waaawaaa they are running up the score and making the other team feel bad" media types now?

What would you call it?

"We're a contender."

Wow, I mean that's just Joey Porter-esque right there. What arrogant douches.

What would you call it?

If you're ESPN circa 2007, you'd call it "Running up the Score," which is what we had to put up with for 17 weeks last year. I can only imagine what would have happened if the Pats hurried out the FG unit to try a 55 yarder at the end of the first half, up 37-0. Jolly Roger probably would have docked the Pats 17 first rounders and fined them 38 billion dollars...

Personally, I love it... the point of the bloody game is to score and not let the other team score (genius, I know...). But the double standard, while not surprising in the least, is still fascinating to me...

I agree Rob, they are a legitimate contender. We need to shut them down on the ground and have Favre try to beat us through the air. This gives us the best chance...
