The new marketing campaign for this weeks game where they tought Brett Favre as the "HERO" and that he's going up against his "RIVALS".

Give me a friggin break. Nothing like the league throwing the Pats under the bus and equating them with being evil here.

If I am Kraft, I am on the phone with Goodell having it pulled because it bad publicity for the team or telling him that there will be an injunction awaiting the league by Monday afternoon.

Generally, I'm not one to look for bias against any one team from the League. But I did see the commercial, and I thought they could have been a little more objective instead of painting it so black and white.

Fantastic. More ammunition for the team to use to wipe out the smiles on those smug Jester bastards faces.

Best possible thing the NFL could do.

Given the correct nemesis of a "hero" is a "villain," maybe we should be thankful the NFL didn't go further than it did.

And considering how last season and most of his recent playoff games have gone, the NFL may have considered extending his label to "tragic hero-aging gunslinger now a split second slow on the draw."

You are unreal. The NFL is a COMPANY. The Pats are one of the top money making teams in the NFL. Are you saying the NFL hates their biggest cash cow? Thats like saying Toyota hates Lexus, oh brother.

Spectators watch games to (1) see the team they like win or (2) see the team they hate lose. That is why the Yankees and Red Sox (that would be baseball - don't want to lose you on the transition) have national marketing appeal. Marketing is marketing, so it makes little difference to the NFL why people tune in to watch a game.

As such, you may want to check your own IQ (that means intelligence quotient, a standardized test of intelligence).

I don't need to check anything. Those who think the NFL "hates" the pats are dumber than you claim I am. The NFL does not hate one of the top money making teams in their company. That would just be stupid  How dare the NFL call the pats "rivals". What a bunch of crybabies.

Regardless of whether the NFL hates the Pats or not; the fact that the Pats are one of the top money making teams is meaningless; they are because they have won. If Pittsburgh ended up winning 2 more superbowls, they'd go to the top in terms of revenue. If the Pats had a Celtics-like 20 year drought, they'd go to the middle of the revenue stream.

So if the NFL really wanted to see the demise of the Pats, they really wouldn't lose any money as whatever they lose on the Pats fanbase would be made up for by the other team(s) replacing the Pats.

In fact one can probably argue this year is better for the NFL than last year because NE hasn't really lost any fanbase; but other teams have gained some (Buffalo and Jets for example) since they now have a legit shot.

No. The NFL does not hate any of its major market teams....please stop being insane.

Every time I see the ad I imagine the Pats wiping Gillette field with Brett Favre's (insert whatever part you'd like here). I am sure the team is thinking the same thing.

The league isn't going to pull the commercial and Kraft isn't going to complain. He wants everyone to watch the game too.

The continuing overhype of Favre, however, is incredible. Even though the Jets won 47-3 today, it literally had nothing to do with him (I know as I have him [unfortunately] in my fantasy league). I can't wait until they get here, the Pats stuff the run and Favre starts slinging it to Ellis Hobbs and Deltha O'Neal. Oooh, I can't wait.

Let's face it. Most football fans love Favre and hate the Pats. The NFL Network is just playing up on those feelings. I just don't care anymore.

When the Vegas odds show the Pats as underdog do you feel the casinos have a vendetta against the Patriots?

No, of course not. They are just responding to public opinion in a way that makes themselves the most money. Same as the NFL in this case. The NFL has determined that more people are likely to watch when the game is marketed this way. And I don't see anyone here seriously arguing the public in general sees things differently.

or...in other words...HOW DARE YOU SAY ANYTHING BAD ABOUT MY BRETT FAVRE!!!!

more hateful idiotic nonsense from Jet lifer

The NFL is CORPORATION with wholly owned subsidiaries that happen to compete against one another. The corporation shouldn't be playing FAVORITES to any of its subsidiaries. And the Pats aren't their biggest cash cow.

Only an idiot JETS fan would make up some half-arsed excuse to say that what the NFL is doing is ok.

Please continue to show yourself to NOT be a Patriots fan. I am loving this. Also, I love how you have back-tracked from saying that the Patriots were the "NFL's biggest cash cow" to only be one of the top ones.

Also, its about CONTEXT. Clearly you aren't bright enough to understand that the NFL portrayed Favre as a HERO. They stopped short of calling the Patriots the villians, but you could tell that is really what they wanted to say.

Its not being a crybaby. Its voicing MY opinion on what I believe to be a crappy marketing campaign that portray's part of its entity in a bad light. Sorry that is lost on you. But, I guess I should expect that by now. You are the one who claims to have never been wrong, though you've been shown to be wrong on numerous occasions.

Anyone got a video? I will go see if there is anything on YouTube... if not I'll have to lock my eyes onto NFL Network to see this vomit.

I can't agree with you. I've thought Favre to be over-rated for at least the past half-dozen years.

They are all out to get us!!!! WAHHHH WAHHHH WAHHHHH!!

Last year, they were. They shattered ratings records.
I am quite sure they don't actually hate the Pats, but something weird is going on with their relationship with the NFL. Painting them as the bad guys seems like borderline brand defamation, in my opinion.
