Porter, IMO, is right on this one. How the hell IS Matt jones still playing?

Porter isn't RIGHT. Jesus, when will people figure it out.

1) Jones, while he's been charged, has not been convicted.
2) Jones voluntarily entered the NFL's substance abuse program.
3) Jones was handed a suspension. He appealed that suspension and can play until such time as the appeal is hear and a ruling is given. THAT is how the UNION set up the rules. If Porter has an issue, he needs to take it up with his player rep. NOT the press.

Also, Porter was caught, on video, assaulting Willie Anderson with 3 of his thug friends. Porter was supposed to have been suspended. He was fined 20 grand in lieu of the suspension as a courtesy to Wayne Huzienga since the Phins were going to play in London last year.

That video went out live on National television and is much more damning to the NFL than Matt Jones' possible drug conviction.

DaBruinz sums up my thoughts eloquently.

the nfl has dealt with players before they've been convicted - i'm pretty sure they penalized Pacman Jones before he was convicted of anything.

so how come it's taken so long to hear the appeal? i've seen these thing dealt with much faster before.

i think porter is partially right in this case, but he's right overall. the nfl needs to be more consistent with its punishments.

the bigger questions are why are ray lewis and lenord little still playing? lewis lied to police during a murder investigation, tried to destroy evidence, had the victims blood on his clothes, and a witness said they saw lewis strike the victim. he then plea bargoned against his friends to avoid jail time. he was not suspedned for even one game by the nfl. little was driving drunk and killed a mother of 3, was suspended 8 games. then drove drunk again a few years later and got off on a officer technicality.

oh and joey porter is an idiot. joey porter is a sterotypical jock bully. he shoots his mouth off, acts like a jerk, thinks violence is a good way to solve problems, and thinls physical strength is more important than intelligance.

Dude was caught with COKE. That is illegal. It should be dealt with swiftly. It is a joke that he is on the field. WTF???

Jones was given a three game suspension. He has appealed that suspension. Given the speed that Goodell has worked cases like this in the past, there's probably something going on behind the scenes (conflicting evidence, perhaps?) that we are not aware of. Bottom line is that he has the right to appeal, and at soon Goodell will punish him with some type of suspension. Would you rather that players not have the right to appeal fines and suspensions?

Porter is hilarious. You guys in your 50's?

Porter is a b!tch. Anyone that jumps a guy (who had his back turned, BTW), then backs off and talks sh!t while his friends do his dirty work is not a man. He's a fake thug and a wannabe tough guy.

He's funny in a laughing AT him kind of way.

Hey, as long as he's sacking everything he sight, he can say whatever he wants. 12 on the year now; outstanding, DPOY type season.
