As always, we can always use a veteran or two (as this year). However, we start 2009 (and this year's playoffs) with Hobbs, Wheatley, Wilhite and Richardson. As with linebacker, this is not a critical need. Pioli has already reloaded.

too bad we didnt draft hofton...man we could use that talent, and in 7th round too

You are making the assumption that he would have prospered in the Patriots system. How do you know he would have?

too bad we didn't have that 2nd first rounder

Wheatley - injury prone and will always be injury prone

Wilhite - meh

Richardson - extra MEH

Hobbs - will get more money than he's worth in free agency... from another team

You're like one of those negative types, huh?

...it's always raining on your side of town huh?!?! ...

Hobbs is signed through the 2009 season. Perhaps you're thinking about James Sanders who is likely to be overpaid by another team for the 2009 season.

Personally, I have been very happy with Richardson (I think alot of us saw he was going to be solid last preseason before the broken arm). And Wilhite has been a nice suprise as well...when he's on the field he is pretty decent.

I also like what I have seen out of Wheatley, but let's hope he can shake the injury bug.

Sanders is leaving after this year? Eh, oh well. If I see him blow another coverage I am going to freak.

Wheatley - injury prone and will always be injury prone I guess you could call him injury prone. Well, unless you take into consideration that the wrist injury is one of those catastrophic things that you can't prepare for. Other than the wrist injury, he's missed one game with a knee sprain.

Wilhite - meh He's a rookie. What were you expecting? Another version of Michael Haynes?

Richardson - extra MEH He's basically a rookie having spent last year on the IR. What were you expecting? Another version of Ty Law?

Hobbs - will get more money than he's worth in free agency... from another team

As for Hobbs, he's under contract for another year. It remains to be seen whether he sticks around. I think that the Pats will try and keep him, honestly.

Sanders is a JAG - Won't likely get a contract anywhere near what Wilson got before he was dumped and he sucked after his first 2 seasons.

Sanders if let go by the Pats is probably done with football at that time.

Wilson was a scrub who we benched at every opportunity. Sanders plays almost every down, and did even when Harrison was healthy. You may think he's worthless, but the team disagrees, and as with Wilson some team will pay more than the patriots.

And to believe that someone who starts for the patriots will be out of football after his rookie contract is probably in the top 10 of the worst analyses of the year.

Sanders if let go by the Pats is probably done with football at that time.

Is that, like, a joke? If it is, then it's a damn good one.

If it's not, then I respectfully - but vociferously - disagree.

Seems like JAG soup, a lot of bodies but no real players. The good news is that we have all year to watch as it looks like they will get a lot of reps.

Richardson is upgradable until he progresses more.

So are Wilhite and Wheatley. What is your point?

I wouldn't expect Wilhite and Wheatley to be on a practice squad at this point. Richardson is much more of a back-end guy/practice squader than either of them are.

No matter how you slice it, they better be practicing their as$es off or getting a vet (or two) in by Monday morning.
