- Someone is going to grossly over pay Matt Cassel next year. He has done a DECENT job managing the game. But the coaches and WR's are making him look much, much better than he is. Cassel has career back up written all over his forehead. I feel bad for whoever is desperate enough to think he can start for them and win games. He might actually be decent for Minni with their running game. Either way, he will be over paid.

- Meriweather is vicious. Seems like he hits HARD on every tackle. I'm happy with this pick from 2007.

- James Sanders, once again with a huge screw up (missed an easy tackle and the receiver got a lot of extra yardage due to this). No one is perfect, and players are allowed to goof up. But when it's happening every game, it should not be excused.

- Guyton will start next year. This is great because it saves us from having to use another high pick on an ILB. Now we can focus on other areas in the next

- ZERO pass rush....again.

- I always thought Wheatley would eventually become a #1 CB on the team, even surpassing Hobbs. He looked great today. Unfortunately, he showed why he was drafted later than his talent would indicate -- INJURY PRONE. And it's on his wrist/hand. Not good. This will probably be a re-occurring injury throughout his career. Very unfortunate.

- OLine played excellent.

- Worst coaching Ive ever seen from BB. Why not go for it on 4th and 1?

Meriweather is looking more and more like Rodney 2.0. He's shaping up to be a very good first round pick.

Why doesnt anyone else mention Sanders lack luster play?

Because we all know about it, but what can the team do? Who can replace him? I will NOT be unhappy to see him leave. We may need to spend another pick on a safety unless we get lucky in free agency like we did with Rodney.

We're a year late. We now have exactly one safety signed for 2009, Meriweather.

Well, for one thing, he's been better than people give him credit for. For another, 1 poor tackle and an occasional bad angle do not mean that he's a bad player.

The real question you should be asking is "Why are so many on this board so quick to tear down players after few/minor mistakes?".

I agree with your post, for the most part.
I do think you are selling Cassel short, however.
He has done a good job managing the game and
more importantly, he is not turning the ball over...much.
He has shown accuracy. He has shown some arm strength.
He has shown maturity even though he is not making his adjustments
at the los like the great ones. He's getting better, though.

He can succeed with another team as a starter, I think, so long
as too much is not expected from him. If he can continue to improve then
he could have a great career as a starting QB in the NFL.
