Say this and say that lost the game but

Am I the only one annoyed at the constant 5 seconds Manning had all night to complete a pass? Can this team ever get to the QB? Any time we had the lead they gave it up. It's a miracle they only gave up 18, the only reason they did was because the O was on the field all night. We cannot win a championship until we can get after the passer. Not only can this team not get sacks, they make passing on them easy.

Yet everyone seems to blame everything else for tonight. Am I the only one seeing this>?

I have been saying it all year.... No pressure. Is Pace the guy who was tied up by two blockers all day and reaking HAVOK on the Bills offensive line? To bad Sey is washed up, because he does pretty much nothing vs teams with good O lines.

The pressure hasn't been there for the majority of this season. Wilfork, Warren, Green and Seymour are still young and basically in their prime. You would figure they should be getting after the QB more. I don't know what the deal is.

i dont think wilfork, warren, or seymour are supposed to be rushing the QB they are not fast they are supposed to push the pocket and collapse on runs, the olb's are supposed to bring the pressure and they are not.......vrabel and thomas have not put pressure on all year

Yeah, I think the D-line did its job actually: the Colts managed 47 yards over 21 carries for a whopping average of 2.2 yds/carry.

But I agree with the sentiment that the Pats need to apply more consistent pressure on the QB. The Super Bowl has left me craving pass rush like nobody's business . . .

With a makeshift secondary and playing an aerial team like Indy, thought they played well. Once again we do not know the game plan, but to hold a team like Indy to 18 points is fine.. the issue is the Offense, and despite a couple of long drives they did not turn into 6 points..

Are you a RATS TROLL? in Pats clothing?

On the bright side, the run defense was a lot better tonight

really i have been saying that we miss the edge speed rusher.
when we had colvin and mcginest
when we had colvin and vrabel

now vrabel has lost a step and AD does his bull rush every time (he didnt rush that much last night)

you are right. our pass rush lacks speed on the edge
but what can you do?

Even if all of the above were their i do not think a pass rush would have come. we pratically played nickel or dime the entire game. so their was no front 7 pressure as their was no front 7.

we either had a front 6 or front 5 with 4 rushing and 1 or 2 dropping to cover the underneath.

we rushed 4 I am more impressed with the so much coverage we held them to 47 yd[2.2 yd/carry] for the night with a light front package.our front 4 and 3 were holding against their 5 and 6 guys. that is very impressive its not like the ol is full of scrubs .

we did not get the lead even once as i thought in the past games once we get the lead we went big front 7 package to absolutely create some pass rush
and peneration. seymour/vrabel/ty and vince were in the backfeild on strech plays over powering 6 guys.we were playing with 4 DB and 2 Safety without harrison we did not have a heavy DB who can cover and play the hybrid slot .merriweather is 30 lb lighter so the front line held good.

No, I am realistic and unbiased. I watched Calvin Pace defeat two blockers are create havok in the Bills backfield.....whats Sey's excuse? We get no pressure on the QB because Sey is not what he used to be, and Vrabel is to slow to play at a high level all the time. Sey 'just doing his job" = getting owned by two blockers, while Thomas and Vrabel get stuffed at the line.

The colts are a small team, they have no excuse.

Its really frustrating to see our young D-line not getting to the QBs. Last nite everytime Manning snapped the ball they didn't even get close (most times) to him. Can't win against him if we will continue like this. I hope something gets done or else we'll be in more trouble.

I don't blame Wilfork or Warren. Seymour is the one to blame. He used to be able to defeat double teams and blow up the pocket on a regular basis. Seymour is finished, it's that simple. I watched Calvin freaking Pace defeat two blockers vs a bigger Bills O line all day long. There is no excuse for Seymour to be playing the way he has for the money he gets paid. Our lb's are almost as big as the Colts offensive line players, yet Seymour can't defeat a double team at 6'6 300+. He is not elite anymore, period.

He needs to get cut.

The game plan wasn't to blitz and to hold the Colts to short yardage passing plays. You need to blitz to get to the QB.

The Pats seem to have the same game plan most of the time.

Stop the run and drop back in coverage. The trouble is that

the defensive backs don't cover very closely.

The Giants have a defense that shows what a pass rush can do.

The Giants pass rush like a Pit Bull; the Pats pass rush like a Boston

Terrier.

No matter what anyone says, you can't give Manning as much time to throw as they did yesterday. Strangely, the secondary did step up and it led to Indy not getting too many points, but stopping the run buys you nothing against a passing team. If we're going to stick with a 3-4 we need to be either getting more from the 3 in terms of attacking the QB or using some of the 4 to help.

I didn't know the Colts had the ball for 25 freaking minutes.

That's like 5 mintues into the 2nd quarter So 5 minutes into the 2nd, the Colts put up about 18 per avg with that time. That's not getting it done. The only reason this D didn't give up 30 + was because the offense was on the field more than half the time (34 minutes) The Pats D made about one stop, but both times they ahd a elad to protect, the Colts ran right down the field.

IMO, the secondary is developing very good. You could have 5 Champ Bailey's back there and if you give Manning 5 seconds every time he's going to score on you, it's just a much better advantage for the offense. Remember when the Colts used to be our *****? That was when McGinest harrassed Manning. The Colts are a well oiled machine, the only chance you have against that offense is to disrupt the timing. Do you disrupt timing by dropping back playing coverage? No. You disrupt timing by flushing Manning out of the pocket, forcing him to make throws he doesn't want to make.

Last night was a perfect example. All night Manning had time to read the field and find the open man. If someone, ANYONE would have gotten into his face a few times he wouldn't have had time to make those decisions. It's like the Giants against the Patriots. See how mortal our offense looked once that defense made Brady react 3 seconds quicker? It's like that with any QB. If you give them time, they'll kill you.

Sorry, but 300 yards of offense in 25 minutes is not getting it done. This front 7 is weak as hell. They can stop the run because the RBs are running into our huge front 7. But when it comes time for those big bodies to chase somebody down, they just can't frickin do it. This is why I wanted Calvin Pace so badly, he alone would make this a top 5 defensive unit :[

It sucks, but nothing is changing until Bill wakes the hell up and fixes this position. We'll continue to beat up on the Chiefs, Rams, and 49ers of the league. Offense like the Chargers and Colts will continue to put up points on us.
