I know it's waaaay early to start thinking about this, but I came across the 2009 free agents.

CB: Nnamdi Asogumah/ Dunta Robinson

WR: T.J Houshmandzadeh ( Can you imagine Brady throwing to him, Moss, and Welker?!)

And a blocking TE. Haven't made up my mind.

shaun mcdonald would be a very good and cehap WR pickup...

i dont like the runningbacks that much...i think we need to resign heath evans though...also, how bout ricky? LOL

TE's i have no idea...prob Clark or Pope

if ur looking for more expensive option on defense, how botu peterson, dansby or suggs

Nnandi would be cool too...lol, so we can take both, oaklands best offensive and defensive players in 3 yrs....

If you're going to throw money at one player no doubt it has to be Asogumah. He is a shutdown corner and would really improve our defense.

CB: Nnamdi Asogumah

I might just cream my pants if we can land him.

Edgerrin James most likely will be released and could give us RB depth if he's willing to sign cheap.

CB: Nnamdi Asogumah - Must acquire

Nnamdi and Suggs.

How bout Dansby from Arizona.

The Pats won't pay for a top of the line cornerback. Instead,

look for them to re-sign Lonnie Paxton, James Sanders, Mike

Wright, and Heath Evans. Then, they will sign half a dozen

veteran free agents to one year contracts for minimum salaries.

All are pretty expensive...only if they really think they will fit AND will help...and have value..

Needs:

RT
DB
DB

The Pats really need a right tackle.
Dallas' Marc Colombo would be a nice fit. Former BC guy.
Mark Tauscher is another RT that would fit right in.
This would cost a lot of money.

At DB, I think hopes of Nnamdi are awfully optimistic. He will be the primary target of the Raiders, and then a top target for the other 31 teams.
Shooting for either Dunta Robinson or Chris Gamble is only slightly more likely, but would be terrific. Note that Gamble is originally from Boston.
The Colts' Kelvin Hayden is a larger CB, and has played well for them - young and improving.
St Louis' Ron Bartell is another larger CB, improving, and would be an upgrade.

TB SS Jermaine Phillips warrants a look if the Pats want a tough, run-stuffing safety. I believe he currently has a broken arm, but will be a top safety target.

Note that at one time the Patriots made Ty Law the highest-paid corner in the league, and also paid the CB franchise tag for a year with Asante Samuel.

They also brought in expensive free agents such as Adalius Thomas, and paid Randy Moss big FA money.

Yes, they sign a number of vet min deals. But they also periodically spend big on free agents when they like the fit.

Nnamdi and Suggs.

LOL - That would be nuts. We have resigns that would be better use of the big dollars, though. If our CB's survive these trials by fire, we may go into next year with one of the most budget-friendly defensive backfields again.

I think maybe seeing our lack in CB could send us after Nmadi (or w/e) but, I'd be pretty surprised.

Hey, the Pats threw a pretty generous offer to Adalius Thomas. I don't think many of us saw that coming. Anything is possible

Suggs had another INT and TD today, hes playing good this year. How funny would it be if we signed him and had him and Adalius both from Baltimore starting at the OLB spots? lol Kick overated washed up Vrabel to the curb, thats what i want. Suggs probably will get franchised again if the ravens cant sign him. :(

WR: T.J Houshmandzadeh ( Can you imagine Brady throwing to him, Moss, and Welker?!)

TJ would be incredible playing for the Pats.

We need an edge rusher on Defense, Suggs is the closest that will be available.

How bout Dansby from Arizona.

Definitely not. We are not dabbling into high quality LBs in the FA. We have Thomas, Vrable. We also have Crable, Guyton, Woods, and Mayo...Don't forget Redd and especially Rudd. Those guys have a lot of potential. We need a CB. Hobbs is just not it but we should resign him because he is a KR specialist. We need a starting RB. A deep threat WR so we can really open the field on both sides. A Receiving TE a SS and Nnamdi. Our OLine is good. Hopefully we can keep Wright and Green.
