Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski has been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month.

Gostkowski has made 9 of 10 field goals (90.0 percent) in the month of October and has totaled 38 points to lead the Patriots in scoring. Overall, Gostkowski has made 16 of 17 field goals (94.1 percent), including a perfect 10-for-10 from under 40 yards.

Gostkowski's career field goal accuracy rate of 85.1 percent (57 of 67) currently ranks as the best in Patriots history.

Well deserved, especially considering what a weapon he's been on kickoffs (which Reiss doesn't even mention). If you combine the figures for percentage touchbacks and average return length, Gostkowski is among the absolute elite KO guys in the league.

He may be our last chance in a few close games this year. Especially w/o Tommy and all those TD's we were used to. Its all ST and position too.
Gostkowski is cool...I hope he has the opportunity to step up in some pressure situations.

Which makes it a sort of Pandora's box for the Colts--do they keep the dome closed to help Vinatieri's kicking, and, in the process, help Gostkowski even more?
